With historically low knife crime figures Colchester's rate can jump significantly with just one or two incidents.

We should never tolerate any knife related crime in our City, most of which involves unexpected teenagers getting caught up in the middle of criminal activities.

Having raised these issues with Essex Police - Colchester District and the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex Roger Hirst I have full connfidence in the current policing strategy for Colchester and their commitment to this issue.

What I really want to see is a push on education in our schools and community circles to discourage the carrying of knives and bladed articles by often vulnerable and intimidated children for self defence purposes.
