Forest Talk
Forest Talk is the ‘talking newspaper’ for the Forest of Dean area and has been operating for more than thirty-five years.
A small ‘army’ of volunteers produce weekly recordings which are currently sent out on USB sticks.

What’s in Forest Talk
The weekly recording contains two sections:
The News section, which lasts about 45 minutes, has extracts from the previous week’s editions of local newspapers, chosen to reflect their overall content.
The second half is the Magazine section, which covers a wide range of interests.
It is rather like the magazine selection of a newspaper. It contains individual features, often of particular local interest. They can be from other publications, or sometimes location recordings of choirs, concerts and field trips or interviews with local characters and MPs.
We may also include downloads of radio programmes, such as In Touch from BBC Radio 4.

Forest Talk. the local Talking Newspaper for the Forest of Dean, is a charity run totally by volunteers since1984. We are looking for new recruits to support our 4 teams who record every Saturday morning - so each team records once every four weeks.
If you would like to become a member of one of our teams and support the local blind and partially sighted community in the Forest of Dean, we would be more than grateful to welcome you. The sessions are very companionable, and teams enjoy meeting up once every four weeks to catch up with each other. There is tea/coffee and biscuits!!
It is a flexible situation and allows for holidays and time off if needed. Someone else will always stand in. Please contact Christine on 07903 240 296 if you would like to come in for a taster morning before committing your time to us.
Please share our poster and help raise awareness of our organisation.
Are you unable to read a newspaper, even with glasses?
Do you know someone who is?
Do you live in or near the Forest of Dean?
If so – you need to know about Forest Talk!
Forest Talk is a free, weekly, recorded ‘newspaper’ for reading-impaired people who live in, or are interested in, the Forest of Dean, helping them keep in touch with local news and events.
It keeps listeners aware of the wider community with familiar and friendly voices in their home each week.
latest edition
Each Saturday our volunteers record a new edition containing 45 minutes of news items from local newspapers, together with 45 minutes of features.
The newspaper is recorded on a Memory Stick, which plugs into a simple, easy to use, player. We provide each listener with a player on loan.
