As we transition into September, I look forward to this month’s theme for our Strala Yoga classes: ‘Let Your Practice Feel Like You’.

In a world where we’re are busy and on the go, this theme is all about reconnecting with what feels good for YOU. Strala Yoga encourages us to listen to our bodies and move in ways that feel natural, comfortable, and true to who we are—there’s no right or wrong, just what feels right for you in the moment.

What Does This Mean for Your Practice?

-Tune Into Your Body:Instead of focusing on how a pose “should” look, focus on how it feels.
Does it feel good? Does it feel like you?

If not, make adjustments that suit your unique body and mind.
Move With Ease:

Strala is about moving with ease, not force. As you flow through your practice this month, let go of the need to be perfect. Move in a way that feels organic and fluid, allowing your practice to be an expression of who you are.

Celebrate Your Individuality:Every body is different, and that’s something to celebrate! Whether you’re a beginner or a regular, your practice is uniquely yours. Let this month be about your individual journey and making space for what feels authentic to you.
Mind-Body Connection:This theme also invites us to deepen our mind-body connection. As you move, notice how your thoughts and emotions influence your body, and vice versa. Let your practice be a space where you can explore and understand yourself better.

Throughout September, I’ll be guiding you through classes that embrace this theme, encouraging you to personalise each movement, each breath, and each moment on your mat. This is your time to explore, to feel, and to let your practice be a true reflection of you.

Join me at Yoga La Zouch and let’s make this month’s practice not just something you do, but something you deeply feel—something that feels like you.

I am back from a wonderful few weeks in Brittany and am looking forward to getting stuck into a new project of mine :)

Pilates :)

Strala yoga will always be my main interest, however I’ve been curious about developing my skill set and learn more about the differences between yoga and Pilates. So here I am!

I’m halfway through my course and this week it’s all about diving deep into anatomy and physiology of the body.

I am excited to expand my skills and learn more about how Pilates can benefit us, especially as we age :)

Have you tried Pilates? Looking to put a class on in the Autumn in our local area :)

Last summer yoga session of July and a lovely turn out of local yogis. It was lovely to get an hour out of the busy schedule to take the time for some self care and resetting of the nervous system. An added bonus that we could go outside again and take in the views and fresh air.

It was a such a pleasure to see one of my oldest friends come to class, she was visiting the area for the weekend. 40 plus years of friendship!! She had obviously heard me talk lots about the benefits of Strala yoga, so came to see it for herself!

Her feedback was very positive expressing how much she enjoyed taking an hour to slow down and reset from life as a busy mum to a toddler.

Look out for dates on the website for more pop up classes in August before our full timetable starts after the summer :)

This morning was wonderful, as I had the opportunity to discuss the benefits of yoga with so many people at Swad’s small business event.

Several passersby shared their experiences of aches and pains. Do you know the benefits of both yoga and chair yoga?

One of our regulars mentioned that with age, she becomes increasingly more stiff every six months, and without regular stretching, she feels it throughout her body. She tries to come every week :)

Another shared how yoga significantly helps her manage stress and anxiety, and shared that our classes at Yoga La Zouch are particularly beneficial each week to ease that.

With another regular yogi who came down to support the event also talked about the sense of community at Yoga La Zouch. Years ago, one lady remembered knowing everyone on her street, but now, that sense of connection has gone. At Yoga La Zouch, I strive on that community spirit, ensuring you feel part of a friendly and welcoming local group.

Tomorrow is our last Sunday class of July, and we would love to see you there. Join us and experience the benefits of yoga and our supportive community!

Just lead my first pop up ‘yogalates’ class outside to this gorgeous view.

Have you heard or done yogalates?

My friend has been doing it for years and always said how good she felt after. It’s a fusion of yoga and Pilates!

Yogalates offers benefits such as improved core strength, flexibility, better posture, reduced stress, and a balanced workout combining the best of yoga and Pilates. What’s not to love! It’s suitable for all fitness levels and promotes overall well-being.

I set myself the challenge this summer to ‘learn more about Pilates’ and have enrolled in a Pilates course in the hope to offer a yogalates class at a new venue at Donisthorpe church when it’s finished its refurbishment in the Autumn. Very excited to expand :)

Today’s feedback from our taster session was very positive with lots of variations of ‘I loved it’. Feeling so grateful!

Arrival of new leaflets ready to be handed out out at our local ‘ Swad small businesses’ take over event on Sat between 9-2 in the high street. If you are thinking about doing some yoga but haven’t started yet come down and chat to me or some of our regulars. We have 2 fun competitions on our stall so come and find out what they are ;)

We began our July sessions with a fantastic start this weekend!

Here’s a glimpse of today’s yoga session: We focused on cultivating relaxation with each breath, using the exhale to release any unnecessary tension or stress from the body.

Throughout July, we’ll be embracing the thoughts of.
“help yourself, help others. repeat.”

Don’t miss our pop-up sessions starting on July 15th!

Movement: Moving more for our mental health’ is the theme of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024
Since 2001, the Mental Health Foundation has been leading Mental Health Awareness Week - bringing together the UK to focus on getting good mental health. Each May, millions of people from every part of society take part.

One of the most important things we can do to help protect our mental health is regular movement. Our bodies and our minds are connected. Looking after ourselves physically also helps us prevent problems with our mental Movement is a great way to enhance our wellbeing.

Even a short burst of 10 minutes’ brisk walking can boost our mood and increase our mental alertness and energy. Movement helps us feel better about our bodies and improve self-esteem. It can also help reduce stress and anxiety and help us to sleep better.
If you’d like to get moving more, maybe I can help you. We have 5 classes a week in Moira and Ashby you can be part of. There are incredible benefits of yoga and movement for our mental well-being. Yoga isn't just about flexibility and strength—it's a powerful tool for managing stress, improving mood, and fostering mindfulness. 🌞

Whether it's a morning stretch, a midday flow, or an evening unwind, incorporating movement into your daily routine can help clear your mind and elevate your spirit. Let's take some time this week to breathe deeply, move freely, and honor our mental health. Get in touch to book your movement.

A beautiful 20 degrees outside this evening and a fab yoga flow ‘supporting anxiety’ themed evening for our ‘Well women class’.

We enjoyed herbal tea outside in the lovely grounds before starting our grounding flow and looking at techniques and tools to support anxiety during the perimenopause.

We started off with ‘breath of joy’ Have you ever tried it? It's great. Here's how it works:

1. Begin standing with your feet shoulder-width apart, arms relaxed by your sides.
2. Inhale deeply through your nose as you swing your arms up then down, and out to the sides and reaching them up towards the sky.
3. Continue inhaling as you bring your arms all the way up and out to the sides, palms facing up, stretching your chest open.
4. Exhale forcefully through your mouth as you swing your arms down and back behind you, bending your knees slightly.
5. Inhale again through your nose as you swing your arms back to the starting position, standing tall and relaxed.
Repeat this sequence several times, syncing your breath with the movement of your arms. This variation of the Breath of Joy can help to open up your chest and expand your lung capacity, leaving you feeling refreshed and energised and shift and stuck energy.

We finished the class off with a restorative pose and lying on the floor wrapped in a blanket with legs up on a chair. Total bliss!

To try some breath work to support you during this time click on my website www.yogalazouch.co.uk and wait for the pop up to invite you to a 3 part breath work for you to watch and use at home.
