𝗙𝗬𝗜 I have experienced my fair share of eating disorders 🙋‍♂️⁣
⁣
Including being obese as a teenager, starving myself to the verge of anorexia for MMA and then suffering from binge eating for a large chunk of my adult life 😔⁣
⁣
So I am very aware of how much this post may trigger a lot of people that have built their own perception of how “𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴” weighing your meals is..⁣
⁣
However, tracking your calories, macros, and weighing your food is 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲, empowering you to make informed choices about your nutrition⁣
⁣
The idea is that you spend time doing (𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴) and once you understand how to weigh your food choices efficiently, you can eat more intuitively⁣
⁣
The issue is most people fall for the “calories in vs out” method with 𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 or knowledge on food quality, gut health and other health factors⁣
⁣
They follow a “plan” and unknowingly become hyper focused on fighting an uphill battle and eventually burn out 🔥⁣
⁣
These unfortunate people are then left with a poor relationship with food, fitness and most likely themselves.⁣
⁣
𝗕𝗨𝗧 - Who is really at fault here?⁣
⁣
The weighing scales ⚖️?⁣
⁣
Or the process the person was following that wasn’t teaching them how to truly learn more about their body, what it can eat, what it struggles with etc?⁣
⁣
Put it this way, you wouldn’t say a person checking their bank account regularly was becoming “obsessed with money” when they were saving for a holiday 💰⁣
⁣
So don’t say someone is becoming “obsessed with food” when they’re doing things in a healthy manner 🤦‍♂️.⁣
⁣
If you’re not tracking, you’re guessing - 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 just make sure you’re making health a priority.⁣

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀.⁣

Digestive function 🍖⁣
Inflammation levels 💥⁣
Stress load 😡⁣

Without appreciating and optimising these factors, sustainable weight loss and long term health improvements will be much more difficult to achieve 💯.⁣

Avoiding responsibility by choosing convenient options (𝘴𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰, 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴, 𝘱𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘴 𝘦𝘵𝘤) all promote negative health consequences.⁣

The goal here should be to take control back and stop relying on other factors and people to do the work for you.⁣

Find options that you enjoy 🤤⁣
Choose single ingredient foods 🥩⁣
Select foods that digest for you ☑️⁣

And watch your life change for the better 🙌.⁣

This journey is about self-discovery and learning new habits. 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 and take ownership of your body and growth.⁣

My Journey from Depression to True Health⁣
⁣
For those unaware, I once devoted my life to bodybuilding and the pursuit of a stage-ready physique 💪⁣
⁣
I was obsessed with “proving myself” to others, willing to sacrifice anything for a moment of satisfaction in the mirror.⁣
⁣
However, my body had different plans, battling with chronic health challenges, such as:⁣
⁣
Mould exposure/poisoning 💧⁣
MCAS / extreme histamine sensitivity issues 🥵⁣
Constant reactions to foods 🍞⁣
Bacterial overgrowths 🦠⁣
Chronic anxiety 😥 ⁣
H.Pylori and stomach ulcers 💥⁣
And more⁣
⁣
I even collapsed from stomach pains caused by undiagnosed ulcers during a dieting phase 🤕⁣
⁣
Thankfully, I never accepted my “normal” issues labelled by doctors and it led me to a previous mentor who uncovered what many had missed: a huge level of mycotoxins.⁣
⁣
After an extensive protocol, I finally achieved the physique I’d been chasing for over a decade.⁣
⁣
Yet, after the photoshoot, the buzz wore off and I quickly realised: I had not addressed my deeper issues.⁣
⁣
A few weeks later, everything spiralled into a dark place where I came very close to ending my own life 😞⁣
⁣
This is where one of my favourite quotes saved me - “𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘀.”⁣

I then went down a more spiritual path and found not just myself but a new purpose: guiding others to prioritise holistic healing and not just temporary physical changes.⁣
⁣
I share this journey hoping it might illuminate the risks of chasing your “dream body” without considering your internal or mental health during the process.⁣
⁣

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀? 🍕⁣

It’s time to face the truth: those convenient processed foods are wreaking havoc on your body and you’re paying the price 🤒.⁣
⁣
They’re inflammatory, low in quality, and are likely triggering a variety of rooted issues and digestive issues 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝘆.⁣

Inflammatory issues are often mistaken for 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘣𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘯 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘵, but in reality, they’re signals from your body that something isn’t right internally 💥.⁣
⁣
It could be triggered by food intolerances, poor gut health, or other underlying health issues 🦠.⁣
⁣
“𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴” who tell you that you can continue indulging in these foods simply don’t understand the importance of true health.⁣
⁣
They’re stuck in the outdated mindset of “eat less, move more,” 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 💯.⁣
⁣
If you keep ignoring your food choices and gut health, you’ll continue to yo-yo with your health, possibly causing further harm and even developing an eating disorder.⁣

Archie challenged himself further by scheduling his first-ever WC boxing match, which he won 🏆.⁣
⁣
I am truly so proud of what he has achieved both as his coach and older brother.⁣
⁣
Archie is a prime example that “𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯” isn’t necessary to achieve results…⁣
⁣
However, you do need to 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄, make a commitment and prove to yourself that you’re more than capable of changing your life for the better.⁣

The “𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗛” and fitness industry really misses the point when it tells people to solely “𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦”.⁣
⁣
Of course, calories, macros and output are important factors to a better lifestyle…⁣
⁣
BUT⁣
⁣
They are small pieces to a very large puzzle 🧩.⁣
⁣
(𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶/𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩).⁣

is a prime example of this.⁣

She’s been working with me for less than a month and we’ve prioritised her:⁣
⁣
👉 Food choices⁣
👉 Fasting hours⁣
👉 Macros based on symptoms/health screen⁣
👉 Accountability by messaging me frequently⁣
👉 & training stress (reducing her volume and output)⁣
⁣
And the result?⁣
⁣
Already over 3.5kg down in bodyweight and a lot of her digestive/period symptoms have already improved.⁣
⁣
Did we do anything magical other than treat her and her body with the respect they both deserve? 🪄⁣
⁣
𝗡𝗼𝗽𝗲 😉.⁣
⁣
Now, to the photos. After her photoshoot last week, she felt incredible and wanted to treat herself to a night out.⁣
⁣
Unfortunately, as we’re early into her healing journey her digestive system had a very strong response to the foods she consumed and pretty much instantly swelled up 💥.⁣
⁣
Thankfully, Lucinda being the legend she is simply went back to prioritising what we’ve already focused on and within two days her body is already back to normal and she’s even made progress for this week's check in.⁣
⁣
We wanted to share this to explain to everyone how important health is to both how we feel and look 🙏.⁣

Several factors can contribute to this, such as changes in eating habits, routines, or the menstrual cycle for females.⁣

However, the most common culprit I see with my clients for these erratic fluctuations is 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 ‼️.⁣

If certain foods trigger a negative response, it can lead to an increased immune response, inflammation, and that “puffy” or “swollen” appearance is often mistaken for stubborn body fat.⁣
⁣
This response can also bring along symptoms like fatigue, joint pain, and bloating. 😔⁣
⁣
So, don’t be fooled into thinking the scales don’t matter. They absolutely do when it comes to tracking physical changes.⁣
⁣
If the scales aren’t moving in the right direction, log the information and make informed choices moving forward.⁣
⁣

This time of year is of course amazing in so many ways…⁣
⁣
However, for those that are struggling with constant:⁣

➡️ “𝘐𝘉𝘚”⁣

It’s no secret that in the past I have personally suffered with my own mental health issues which led me to a dark place a few years back…⁣
⁣
(𝘐 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵)⁣

And unfortunately, I found myself doubting everything about me - 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻.⁣
⁣
That included my role as a partner, father, brother, son and of course health coach to my own clients.⁣
⁣
I kept finding myself feeling lost and wasn’t sure what to do next with my own path.⁣
⁣
(𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘪𝘵)⁣

However, this time around I chose to do something different…⁣

I placed my trust in someone else that I knew actually cared about me and would push me to believe in myself the way they do.⁣
⁣
That person is ❤️.
⁣
Of course, I am not saying that I rely on her to “fix” me.⁣
⁣
But having the right person/people around you is truly one of the most important things in life.⁣
⁣
As these people 𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆 you rather than drain you.⁣
⁣
𝗣𝘂𝘀𝗵 you rather than hold you back.⁣
⁣
And want to see you 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱 in life rather than keep you down.⁣
⁣
I have 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 truly believed another person cared about me the way she does and always thought I had to do everything on my own.⁣
⁣
So this post is basically a thank you 🙏 to her and also one that I hope pushes those that read this to reach out to those closest to them and let others in.⁣
⁣
Speak up about what you're worried, anxious, excited or even thinking about.⁣

This is a topic that’s close to my heart as I fell for the same thing many years ago 🙏.⁣

It's natural to want quick fixes, whether it's fat/weight loss pills, getting injections, “𝘧𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘢𝘻𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨/𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨” or diving into extreme fad diets 🤦‍♂️.⁣

And we live in a world that often sells us on the promise of instant results…⁣

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 - these shortcuts can damage not only our physical health but also our mental well-being.⁣

But hold up! It's way more intricate than just munching on salads, "brown foods," and sipping juices. 🥗🥤⁣

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵: it's a bit more complex.⁣
⁣
In all honesty, I'm not a huge fan of the term "eating healthy" because what's best for you depends on your unique health situation.⁣
⁣
It's all about whether your body can truly absorb the goodness from the foods you choose.⁣
⁣
𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 – if you're dealing with things like inflammation, lower levels of stomach acid, some extra weight, not moving enough, and experience gut issues…⁣
⁣
Those so-called "healthy" foods are probably not healthy for you. Some examples are:⁣

🥫 Beans⁣
🍲 Lentils⁣
🥣 Oats⁣
🌰 Nuts⁣
🍝 Brown pasta⁣
🍜 Noodles⁣
🍚 Couscous⁣
🍞 Brown bread⁣
🧄 Garlic⁣
🧅 Onion⁣..and then some.⁣
⁣
Don't get me wrong, these foods are packed with nutrients.⁣
⁣
But given those issues, chances are, your body is probably not in the position to actually digest and absorb the nutrients they contain.⁣
⁣
It’s more than just picking, chewing, and swallowing. 🍽️⁣
⁣
Your food choices should align with your health situation.⁣
⁣

My name is Jamie Hayward and I am the founder of HF Physique. I am extremely passionate about helping people transform their lives through fitness and healthy lifestyle changes.

How do I do this? I provide you with a personalised online programme that is tailored specifically to your needs and goals. Whilst being coached by me, there are no gimmicks or fads: I don’t offer or believe in quick-fix solutions. I focus on helping you understand the importance of exercise and nutrition and how they affect your health and performance.

I use training methods that are suitable for anyone regardless of age, training experience or current fitness levels – so there is no excuse! The only thing I ask is that you commit as much as you can to the process so you can achieve the best possible results.
