Today is National IBS Awareness Day. Approximately 10% of the world’s population suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. World IBS Day provides a platform where those people can find support through awareness.

Something that people are just starting to speak up about now, IBS can be painful, debilitating and difficult to talk about. We get it, it can be awkward, maybe embarrassing…. But it really shouldn’t be!

My own personal experience started with suffering from IBS and that's why I learned how to brew home brewed booch. I created my own kombucha because I heard it was useful to control bloating. After drinking kombucha it started soothing the symptoms a little but I eventually realised the stresses which caused the IBS and then I made a massive life change, so I left my job and went back to study food science. It was during a microbiology project that ended up with the eureka moment that this drink needs to be more mainstream.

At Twisted Kombucha we’re not able to let you know why you may have IBS, but we are here to let you know that a properly fermented kombucha is excellent to soothe IBS and could even heal it! We often get feedback from our customers saying that our kombucha helped them with their IBS symptoms, including bloating. My own healing journey is the reason I created this product.

As the natural environment imbues them with life, just as we seek to rest and rejuvenate in winter, the bacteria and yeast, like us, stir in the spring to foster new life and effervescence. ✨

Because fermentation relies on the activity of microorganisms, such as bacteria and yeast, their activity can be influenced by environmental factors like temperature and the availability of nutrients, which can vary with the changing seasons.
