For many years I have been a fully HETAS trained engineer and of course work to HETAS installation and servicing standards but now it is official that GL STOVES is fully HETAS registered! 🔥

Finally some sense prevails. Great news for the industry. Great news for home owners!

Today we welcome the announcement by the Scottish Minister for Climate Action, Alasdair Allan, that wood burning stoves will be permitted for installation in new build homes.

This news comes after months of campaigning by the SIA on behalf of its members and the wider stove industry.

Have been flat out of recent but another job done ! Poorly fixed steel box with vermiculite chimney fill which has failed and was leaking - drained and reworked and all good! The awesome W5 from Dean Forge is happy again !

This job is just a little different than my usual... tiled floor around an indoor pool. Mixture of 30mm and 20mm thick riven slate. Some black, some grey. 2 crates worth to cut and polish. Nice rounded bullnose edge overlapping inside of the pool. Going to look awesome when it's done!

Another wee job done today removing an old leaky skylight. Customer had roofers out and all said need a new roof because its 60yrs old. Cracked skylight, rubbish leadwork, no membrane, rest of roof and loft bone dry. 10mins to diagnose, 3 hours to remove and patch roof properly. A little better than thousands for a new roof!

Beware of greenery growing out of your chimney, the roots may go further than you think! Like down amongst your feather stones, under all the pots and even behind the render. In this case it was all of the above. Render hanging on by a thread (or a root) and ready to fall off like a sheet. The earlier uts addressed, the easier it is!

Nice wee addition to an install I did before Christmas. Now with bespoke cabinet, logstore and bookcases. Beautiful feature wall!
