🎃🎃🎃DRUMROLL PLEASE 🎃🎃🎃
Well hasn’t the weather tried to stop everything farming this year, we can’t wait for Jeremy & Caleb’s review of their 2023/24 growing season.
Basically it rained pretty much solidly from October through to March, then the ground was so wet it took forever to recover.
But thankfully, the rain stopped, the ground got just about good enough to work, and we planted pumpkins!
Sooo excited about some of the new varieties this year, keeping the usual favourites but have thrown some fun ones into the mix as we always do, can’t wait to see them develop over the next few weeks.
Just catching up with admin (and farming) so apologies it’s been a bit quiet, but tickets will go on sale on Monday 26th August 2024 at 9am sharp, set your alarms ready!
Opening day (I know lots of our faithful pumpkin pickers LOVE to come opening day for the biggest and best choice of all varieties) will be Sunday 29th Sept 11am-3pm. Then various dates right through to Halloween.
Some late night opening as know many of you enjoyed a bit of after school pumpkining.
So, just a bit of advance notice. I’ll be publishing the link to book tickets on here when they go on sale, the links will also be available on our website too.
Pumpkintastic - and cannot tell you how awesome it is to say that after such a challenging season. Looking forward to lots of pumpkin fun with our lovely followers very soon 🎃🎃

It’s that time of year again!🎃🎃🎃
So after such a wet and awful winter and (mostly) spring, the baby pumpkin plants landed with us ready for planting, then it rained a little more! We have finally managed to get going with them though and had all hands on deck (including the pumpkin rangers and pumpkin pooch Ivy too), and finally got going.
What’s with the plastic I hear you cry…well, it’s not actually plastic, it’s biodegradable corn starch, it helps keep the pumpkins hydrated through condensation and also keeps the weeds down too, then as if by magic it breaks up and rots down over winter before the fun begins again. Yes it turns planting into a two stage process but we think it’s definitely worth the effort.
Roll on the sunshine, only another 45,000 to go in 😳😬🎃
The race is ON to get these babies planted before the rain tomorrow, it’s going to be a late night! 🎃🌙🚜
Our own beautiful Lena is one of a very many stars of the show at Derby Great Northern Classics, opening this weekend.
For anyone who didn’t have a Lena selfie at pumpkins this year, pop along and say hi to her here, it’s a long time to wait until October for your next Lena fix 🚘

Sneak peek inside city's £3m classic car 'Repair Shop' as it opens this weekend The only other similar kind of place that offers all this is in Berlin
I am absolutely delighted to announce that this year we raised a phenomenal total of £4,056.33 which was donated to our local Air Ambulance this week.
A huge huge thank you to everyone who contributed this year, your generosity is massively appreciated. Thank you also to a couple of friends of pumpkins who made additional donations too.
Overall we have donated £16,879.33 to this incredibly worthy cause. Thank you so much to everyone who supports us supporting Air Ambulance. Always touched by stories which visitors share of how they’ve relied on the Air Ambulance too 🧡🧡🧡
A huge smashing pumpkin total for local air ambulance from Mr Pumpkin 2023 On Tuesday 12th December 2023, Mr Pumpkin donated £4056.33, to the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).
We are often asked what happens to the leftover pumpkins?
Well here is the answer! Some were donated to the lovely team at the Animal Centre at Derby College Broomfield Hall, it looked like they certainly gave these cuties some entertainment 🎃🧡🎃
Wow! All done and dusted for another year!
2023 was certainly memorable, lots of smiley faces, and we took everything which the weather threw at us in the perfect Pumpkintastic spirit!
Thank you to everyone who joined us this year to make memories with their family and friends.
Last but not least a huge thank you to our amazing pumpkin team, we couldn’t do it all without you.
We are totalling up our charity donations for 2023, so will make an exciting announcement soon. Thank you to everyone who gave so generously to our partner charity Air Ambulance 🚁🧡
🎃🧡🎃🧡🎃
Come pumpkin picking! 🎃🧡🎃🧡🎃
All the pumpkin fun, come and pick your favourite pumpkins, thousands to choose from and lots of different varieties, mini fairground, maize trail, face painting, locally produced food and drinks and much more fun. A great couple of hours fun to be had in the great outdoors.
Tickets are for timed entrance but once on site you can remain with us as long as you like.
Wellies are definitely required, but so much more fun than grabbing pumpkins from the supermarket. Also anyone with pre Halloween festivities tomorrow evening can come for a professional face paint in preparation too.
The awesome Mr Pumpkin team are here to welcome you and help make your pumpkin experience memorable. We hope to see you soon.
Please share the pumpkin love with family and friends
🎃🧡🎃
Nothing brings greater joy at the end of a busy day to have organised barrows!
We are open on 30th and 31st, please pre book tickets through the website. Lots of fabulous pumpkins still left needing homes before Halloween.
Come and have some half term fun with us!
Absolutely lots of fabulous pumpkins left to pick this year. These photos were taken at 5pm this evening and show great availability.
There is very limited availability for entrance tickets tomorrow and the sun is forecast to put its hat on so we expect to be busy. If you’d like to join us tomorrow, please pre-book your tickets via www.mrpumpkin.co.uk to avoid disappointment.
We are open Monday and Tuesday, and will have lots of pumpkins left.
We also have lots of our favourite culinary pumpkins, the crown prince and spaghetti squash. There are a selection of the tastiest pumpkins at the recipe village next to the pumpkin checkout.
The weather is looking good for the weekend, we have limited availability over the weekend slots now that we have some additional overspill field parking. As any other weekend, if you’d like to visit at a weekend, please pre-book your preferred entry slot as when we’re sold out we won’t be able to admit without pre booked tickets unfortunately.
We have thousands of pumpkins left to choose from.
The ground is muddy so please wear wellies or sensible shoes.
We also have delicious locally produced food and drinks, face painting and our mini fairground. Not to mention the free pumpkin trail (donation to Air Ambulance), bale mountain, little pumpkin kitchen, and just the general cheery atmosphere of the fun field. Also please take a look at our recipe village in front of the checkout hub - if we’re missing your favourite recipe please message and we’re happy to add.
Cash and card across the site. Well behaved dogs are welcome in the fun field but not in the pumpkin fields for hygiene reasons.
Found this little cheeky minion in with the spooky golden pumpkins this morning!
Thanks as always Tracey on the pumpkin checkout who does some fancy carving for us.
The sun is shining! 🧡🎃🌞🎃🧡
We have lots of availability today for after school pumpkin picking.
The atmosphere yesterday was totally Pumpkintastic, lots of happy faces.
We also have our face painter Kellie and our food and drinks stalls open until 6pm today.
So come and join us 🧡🧡🧡
Our recipe village next to the pumpkin checkouts has been really popular this year. We are popping a collection of our favourite culinary pumpkins next to the recipes tomorrow 🧡🧡🧡
Our Mr Pumpkin Maize Trail
Dare you accept the challenge to find all the letters to work out the spooky word, without getting lost in the Maize?
Pop to the pumpkin trail desk for a trail sheet and directions and we’ll set you off on your way.
The trail is free to do although we very gratefully accept donations to the Air Ambulance. So far we have raised over £1.800 for this fabulous charity. Pumpkintastic! 🎃🎃🎃
Oodles of pumpkins left to pick this year and plenty of variety.
We are open until 6pm Wednesday to Friday, and we still have booking availability via www.mrpumpkin.co.uk. Our food vendors are also serving food and drinks until 6pm too, so why not treat the kids to after school pumpkin picking and feed them while you’re here 🧡🎃🧡
Another good weather day forecast for today. There is a local weather warning for rain but we are forecast just on the edge of that weather front as it comes through so hopefully we will miss it as per the below.
Lots of availability today, it’s busy first thing but after 2pm goes much quieter for anyone preferring a quieter time to visit.
Hopefully we will all stay dry and see you later 🧡
Half term fun for pumpkin rangers Madi & Ruby today.
They were meant to be helping out on our charity pumpkin trail today, but unfortunately it’s still closed as a section of the route remains waterlogged. So instead the girls busied themselves creating this little display next to the pumpkin checkout. They even picked all the pumpkins themselves! Well done girls
We love our Lena the pumpkin truck. Special day today as Duncan who did the Mr Pumpkin aged signwriting also visited us picking pumpkins with his lovely fam.
Who else is a Lena fan? Show us your pics with Lena during Mr Pumpkin 2023 🛻🧡🎃
Had a really lovely message from a visitor yesterday which I wanted to share, as the team have worked so hard this weekend in exceptionally difficult circumstances, early starts sweeping floodwater from the parking area, resurfacing parking areas and putting down straw in the fields. This was such lovely feedback which means so much…
“We came to visit today, five adults, four children including one in a wheelchair, and I just wanted to send you a message to say thank you for taking such good care of us, and that we had a brilliant time! Absolutely everyone was so helpful, kind and friendly, from guiding us into the best parking spot for our wheelchair accessible van and telling us the best paths to take (thank you Mrs Pumpkin). We came home with a brilliant collection of pumpkins and covered in mud (three other children all fell over!). It’s not easy to do things all together….for us, you nailed this. Thank you!” 🧡🎃🧡🎃🧡
Such a great day today, lots of lovely happy faces AND the wheelbarrows remained colour coordinated all day PUMPKINTASTIC!
The weather tomorrow looks great, dry and 14’.
Lots of availability tomorrow and the rest of the week. We are open 11-4 tomorrow.
Hot food and drinks on site all week, homemade goodies in the Witches Kitchen courtesy of Oakfield Farm, fab coffee and cakes at Paws for a Brew, and last but certainly not least, Willows with smoothies, shakes, nachos boxes and jacket potatoes, yummy.
AND we have Project D with the magical doughnut truck with us all week too
🍩
We also have Helen of Cheerful Chops on face painting.
And, Olivia with the mini fairground - teacup ride, bungee trampolines and inflatables
Come and join the pumpkin team for a day of fun 🎃🧡🎃
I know visitors tomorrow are keen to know what’s happening. As soon as we get done with school pick ups we are going to have a field inspection and check the forecast for tomorrow. We’ll make an announcement as soon as we can 🎃🧡🎃
Hearing the rain coming down this morning with localised flood warnings it was absolutely the right decision to close today.
Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd October
We are completely sold out for this weekend. Please do not attend without a ticket.
If you are booked in for this weekend, while the rain will have mostly subsided, it will be wet and muddy. Please do not wear your favourite converse or deck shoes if you ever want to see them clean again. Wellies or walking boots with good tread are strongly recommended.
We are also open midweek from Monday 24th October. This is a quieter time to visit as Derbyshire schools are not yet on half term. The earlier slots on these dates are busier, so try 1-3pm for super quiet picking time.
We are also remaining open until 6pm on the Wednesday - Friday next week so why not come and do your pumpkins after school, and stop and have a bite to eat with us too.
Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th October
There are already quite a few slots sold out on these dates. If you want to visit at a weekend, please book in advance to guarantee entry.
That’s all for now, as much as I’d love to have a cuppa and put my feet up I’m off to dig trenches to try and drain all this rain away.
Happy Friday all 🎃🧡🎃
We are very sorry, but due to wet weather and high winds, we have made the very sad decision to close Mr Pumpkin on Friday 20th October.
Everyone who has a ticket for this date has been sent an email.
We do intend to be open again on Saturday 21st October, so ticket holders for the weekend do not need to contact, just arrive as normal unless you hear otherwise.
Visitors this weekend will need to dress sensibly, wellies are a must as the ground will be wet.
Anyone without a ticket for this weekend, please do not attend as we cannot admit visitors without a ticket. This is due to limitations on our car parking capacity which isn’t helped as we will have minimal overflow parking in the field due to the recent wet weather.
Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation 🧡🧡🧡
Our farm witch met this scary goblin on the patch today. He was actually very lovely tho, and even posed for selfies with visitors 🎃🧡🎃
Good morning pumpkin pickers, and what a fabulous mot autumnal weekend of sunshine ☀️
A few house keeping bits for visitors this weekend:
This weekend is pretty much sold out other than later slots. Everything remains open until 5:30 so you’ll still have plenty of time if booking tickets on the final slot.
Please do not arrive if you don’t have a pre-booked ticket as when it’s showing as sold out it really is sold out, and we won’t be able to admit you without tickets.
The awesome Mr Pumpkin parking team will be on it today as we try and make the most of our hard standing parking. Please park as directed.
Please wear sensible footwear, the fields are wet and muddy after all the rain.
Other than that, we’re looking forward to welcoming you all.
🎃🧡🎃🧡🎃
We are also pleased to welcome Paws for a Brew as part of our food offering this year.
They offer tea’s and great coffee, and some fabulous homemade sweet treats, such as these super cute muffins and flapjacks. They also have toffee apples, who doesn’t love a toffee apple at Halloween!
So come grab a coffee and a treat before you head out into the pumpkin fields ☕️🧁🥮
There is only one type of footwear for the patch tomorrow 🥾🎃
So, it’s pretty much rained in Morley since the early hours, and the ground is very wet.
I know the sun is going to shine tomorrow, but please don’t be tempted to pop on your sliders or canvas shoes, you’ll cope with the ground conditions far better in wellies or walking boots.
It might also be worth bringing a change of footwear for the journey home as you will get muddy.
Also recommend baby carriers for little ones, as might be a bit hard going for pushchairs.
Hopefully with some sunshine it will dry up a little during the day 🤞
