I’ve known this dude next to me for a long time, initially having met when we formed a band “Ekta” in 1982. I wasn’t fully aware of the challenges Amo faced at that time until I read his book “Walk Like A Man” many many years later.
I can say I am truly inspired by Amo’s remarkable journey which started from humble beginnings to his extraordinary achievements. Amo’s unwavering determination, resilience, and unyielding spirit has propelled him to reach heights that seemed impossible at the outset. Through hard work, dedication, and a never-give-up attitude, he has not only transformed his own life but also become a source of motivation for countless others. Amo’s story is a testament to the power of dreams and the potential that lies within each of us to overcome adversity and achieve greatness. His journey reminds us that with passion and perseverance, anything is possible. Bravo, Amo, for your incredible accomplishments and for proving that the human spirit knows no bounds!

It’s was a pleasure to guest speak at the Mastering Diversity Event. As you know raising awareness of diversity and inclusion is my passion and this event will make changes for generations to come. Thank you for having me 🙏🏻

‘My legs turned to jelly! I could see what looked like thousands of faces looking in my direction and I knew I had to stand up and walk. In fact, I had to ask my son to help me to the stage. It was an incredible moment for me, but when I looked back at my family and some of the trustees of DD who came with me, I saw tears in their eyes and that’s when the magnitude of what had just happened, truly sank in.
I didn’t expect to win and so had no speech prepared in advance. All I could think of was what am I going to say? Thank you to all those people who voted for me, many of whom I have never met and will probably never meet. Thank you so much.’

It’s fair to say I wasn’t expecting that!
On Friday I won a lifetime achievement award at the National Diversity Awards 2023 🏆
I had no speech prepared as each and everyone in the category deserved to win, and I certainly didn’t think i would.
Im extremely grateful to everyone that voted for me, I am deeply honoured.

I’m delighted to let you know that I am chair of the Derby Asian Strategic Partnership. Today we met at the Council House to launch our video about our early migrant settlers from South Asia. We aim to celebrate the achievements of our ancestors and share this to our generations to come.
