Right, 3 weeks to get myself together 💪🏾
Why do we do this 🤷🏾♀️…? I normally consider myself to be quite disciplined but these past few weeks i’ve been slipping 🤦🏾♀️… The way i’ve been binging on rubbish food is ridiculous and i know it’s bad for me and it’s going to make me feel terrible but i do it anyway. BUT… Now i have an event in the diary, i am on it like sonic - proper last minute dot com to switch up my mindset!
My problem is that i don’t do a weekly food shop, or a monthly one at that 🤣🤣… I have no idea what my system is but i do intend to create one to break my bad snacking habits!!
I do cook a lot, which is good although i need to do better!
The reality is i have time off at the end of August and i want to be in my best shape to wear my non work clothes, ladies you’ll relate to this… So i have 3 weeks to get myself there 💪🏾💪🏾
I have no issues with moving my body, it’s the food i am not consistent with.
I listen to the health experts 🎙️ and read lots of information 📚 and try to talk to people to see what works for them, if you have any tips for me on what i can try to cut down on my snacking please put them in the comments 👇🏾… Sharing is caring 💜

Well it was an eventful first day at my DANCE ‘n’ TWIRL workshops in Huddersfield 🙌🏾
Great to see lots of enthusiastic dancers who are eager to learn and also have the confidence to be creative!! We spent the day dancing away in the styles of Urban dance, Jazz technique, Pom dance & Baton Twirling. We did footwork techniques and travelling steps, flexibility and leg strength exercises, worked on stamina and arm lines as well as vertical and horizontal twirling combos!!
All in all a great day 💃🏾… All the kids worked very hard, bless them 👏🏾👏🏾

Being a sole trader, working for myself I overthink… I overthink… I overthink… 😨
Over the past 4 weeks i’ve had lots of new sessions, which is great - my brand is getting out there!
One of my classes with 15 participants, 14 loved it, 1 didn’t love it… Now automatically I felt deflated that one person didn’t like my class, I took it personally and was convinced that i’d delivered an unsuccessful class.
Okay so reflection time, why did i go straight to the negative 🤔…?
14 people absolutely loved my class, these are 14 new people who have now been introduced to SS Dance & Wellbeing.
But my focus was fixed on the one person who didn’t like it… How crazy is that 🤯
A couple of years ago, this would have consumed me, i get in my own head at times because working solo means i only have my own point of view.
To the person who didn’t enjoy my class, I applaud you 👏🏾 because you gave it a try. Most people will just say no and not even try a dance class.
I had to check myself, I had a moment, I got in my head but I had a talk to myself. It’s absolutely fine for people to come to my class and not like it, my style of dance is not for everyone and I fully appreciate that. I am very grateful that you stepped out of your comfort zone, walked into a new environment and gave it a go.
Overthinking and consuming thoughts can cause you to adopt negative thought patterns and can massively impact your mental health… If you find yourself in this spiral, get pen to paper or talk it out, this process works for me. Writing, seeing the words on a page and taking a moment to process means that these feelings are not occupying space in my head. I can refocus my brain 💜

This is being highlighted this week but those of you who follow my page will know that this is an everyday thing for me.
Everyday I am learning about myself, and how important it is to be aware of the ups and downs of my wellbeing. I started this business when no one was really open about their wellbeing but things have changed… It’s great to see people being more open about where they are in-terms of their wellness and being transparent without fear of being judged.
On this World Wellbeing Week take a moment to reflect and do a personal wellbeing checklist - It’s important to know where your head is at!

Don’t you just LOVE Mondays - Another GREAT 🤩 themed dance fitness session 🙌🏾
This week it was Michael Jackson theme, i mean… I actually could of done this class for double the time!!
The ladies came with their MJ game on pointe, really getting into these fancy dress fitness classes now aren’t you 😜… As much as they might complain that they don’t have anything to wear they always come with something on to mark the occasion.
We warmed up to Billie Jean, got a bit wavey in Thriller and found out that one of the ladies Claire has NEVER EVER heard the song PYT - Whaaaaaat 😳… The shock this caused 🤣🤣, all part of the bants!!
We had all this fun, getting sweaty 🥵 in this heat and finished off with a funky moonwalk!!
We’ll be doing this one again over the summer for sure!! If you attended the class let me know which MJ routine was your favourite?!? Oh, i totally ran out of time to do Smooth Criminal so i’ll get it in for next time.

Interesting conversation i had with one of my friends a couple of weeks he told me that Fridays were his Well-being/Self-care day…
He spends that day getting a fresh trim, sorting out his car, spending time with his kids and sometimes might get a facial or pedicure…
👏🏾👏🏾 Yessss - I love this 🙌🏾
He asked me if i do anything similar like get my nails done and stuff, i was like “nah i’m not girlie like that” - my exact words! But meant in the way that i’ve never really cared about dedicating time to things like that unless it’s a special occasion.
I love that my male friends are looking after themselves in this way!
I love a trip to the Spa for a massage every few months but I don’t think i actually have a weekly selfcare routine, do you have one? 🤔
What one thing or combination of things do you do every week without fail just for yourself?!? Please share - it might give me some tips and ideas of things i could be doing for myself 💜

What i love about working in dance is that no matter what age you are it brings people together 💜 Thank you Yorkshire Dance for giving me the opportunities to teach and be involved in such a beneficial project.
I have been chatting away today, catching up with lots of different participants from all of the different groups from across Leeds… And of course leading one of my infamous energy boosting warm-ups is always a highlight for me 💃🏾
The feedback from today is what makes my job the best 🙌🏾… Bring on the next one!!

No rehearsal, i just told them to follow my lead which they did so confidently… Great performance Sumangal group, we had lots of nice feedback and even some newbies wanting to join our already full class!

It’s Men’s Health Week, remember this 🩵

I generally always have a lot of optimism coming in to a new week, it’s like my reset button. I love the fact that i have now built up a routine that enables me to start my week on a high.
Well… This is until i come outside of my four walls and have to interact with people 😩… Haha if you don’t know me that may sound awful, i’m nice i promise.
I mean it in the way that not everyone around me likes my energy and the positive way that i carry myself so they try to project their doom and gloom my way… Its so annoying!
Everyday in my life something goes wrong, no day in my life is perfect but i don’t go around having that weigh on me or push it on to others around me. This morning i nearly got sucked into the negativity by a person, the passive aggression was unreal but i just chose to rise above it… I appreciate that we’re all going through our struggles in life and we deal with them in our own individual way but i don’t think it’s necessary to try and make me feel down just because i want to better myself…
I’m a quiet soul with a very loud personality, i just get on with what i’m doing in my life. Mondays to me are great 🙌🏾… If that’s not you then don’t get at me for it - i heard a great quote today on DOAC 🎙️ from Simon Cowell “on a Sunday night you want that feeling of excitement that Monday is coming and it’s something to look forward to.”
If Mondays don’t excite you, ask yourself WHY?!?

Ways That I Overcome Negative Thought Patterns 💚
According to Forbes “You view the world through your mental attitude. If that attitude is predominantly negative, it can impact everything, including health, career, family, and more. Furthermore, negative thinking can have a spiraling effect that attracts more negative thinking.”
So i have learned over time that we don't overcome negative thought patterns, we replace them. I am intuitive with myself so i notice when i have started down the negative pathway and i stop myself out loud - 😂 Yes i talk to myself! I have to Acknowledge that this is a pattern that i want to change and speaking out loud, putting my words out into the universe helps me to Articulate how i want to respond. This enables me to choose a different behaviour because i am aware of it.
Identifying when i have negative thoughts allows me to Reframe them. I love doing my journalling, i get my pen to paper (or record a voice note) as soon as i feel something bubbling up… Writing versus thinking helps me to get the thought out, and when i can see the words on paper or hear them played back to me it is easier to make sense of it, address it and move forward.
I don’t spend my time fighting negative thoughts (they can pop up at any given time), although i now consciously put myself in situations where i am more likely to reach for better feelings and thoughts.

I’m excited to be delivering ‘DANCING for HEALTH with SS Dance & Wellbeing’ a five-week course, where together we will discover the many benefits of getting our bodies moving as well as journalling through ways to enhance your overall wellbeing.
Taking place at Mirfield Community Centre in partnership with C & K Recovery & Wellbeing College from Thursday 6th June.
The course is currently fully booked but there is a waiting list as some places may become available.

That’s the first three competitions of the season complete 🤩🎉… Pom Dance, Dance Twirl, Military Freestyle, Solos and Duos! Lots of fresh, exciting routines have been unleashed for 2024… I’m defo looking forward to seeing how these routines develop throughout the year 👀 - The journey to Universal Championships is upon us 🏆
I used to be a dancer in this world but now I volunteer to judge. What does volunteering do for me?
It gives me a sense of belonging, and it keeps me within the majorette world. Volunteering gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience, it also gives me a space to guide other dancers to improve their performances. I enjoy being a valuable part of a team, the YCA crew are fab 💕
I hung up my dancing shoes in 2019 😔😭, i miss it so much but i absolutely love my role as a judge. It’s important for my wellbeing to be involved in more things that i am interested in and enjoy!!
