Great News - Lets Support Burton Football Team
So we finished the season 2nd, which was great for us but I think we could / should of won it.
We only lost 3 games all season, scoring 122 goals. The main thing is that we've had 22, 14 & 15 year old boys coming training every week who have absolutely loved it. The younger generation seem to get a bad rap but they are really good lads.
I wasn't actually at the tournament, but they lost on penalties ( to the same team we lost on penalties in the league cup earlier in the season ) but a good day was had by all.
I'm taking a step back from coaching this season, I've a 4 and 2 year old who need my attention more right now, but I'll still be around on the committee etc so happy to give updates.
In addition, the highlights the fact that he gets 22 boys training every week who love doing it.
Christchurch Rotary attended the 80th D-Day anniversary last night.

It's National Volunteer Week!
It is a week in which the UK celebrates volunteers and says thank you to them for the contribution that they make.
Volunteers play a crucial role delivering and helping our community.
The International Service Team’s morning at TFSR;
The purpose of the visit was that Christchurch Rotary made a donation of £500 to cover the sponsorship of 10 boxes of tools which are being sent out in the next few weeks.
During the morning members of Christchurch Rotary had a tour around the premises and explained how TFSR works. We then got down to the practical work and started packing sewing machines and haberdashery kits for delivery to Zambia.
The pictures show Christchurch Rotarians David and Mike packing the refurbished sewing machines in boxes and labelling for Zambia. David is shown weighing the boxes as the weight has to be declared on the label. Also fruits of their labours stacked on a pallet ready to be loaded into the container.
Then Christchurch Rotarians, then moved onto packing refurbished tools, we had a list of tools for each trade to go into a box, we had to find each tool from the labelled bays, very organised, tick off on the list then wrap in newspaper and place into the wooden boxes. TFSR even takes in wood as they make their own wooden boxes for shipment. They packed a couple of carpenters boxes and a builders box, picture shows David placing a mallet in a carpenter box and a picture of Mike checking off all the allocated carpenters tools on a bench before passing on for David to wrap and pack. The boxes were sealed and label with the Rotary logo and wording to state that the tools were sponsored by the Christchurch Rotary.
The last picture show the Christchurch Rotarians in front of a completed box.
The boxes are part of a pilot scheme with TFSR working with the Zambian prison service. In the scheme low risk prisoners are taught a trade using the tools, then if they reach the required standard on their release, they leave prison and are presented with their own set of tools of their acquired trade to enable them to work and earn a living.
Happy bank Holiday Monday - Christchurch Rotary and Cognac Rotary Clubs had an offical letter from from AquaBox for the 20 community filters that the club sponsored to help the people of Ukraine saying that they have arrived.
A donation of £5,000 to Aquabox. This generous donation has been used to provide 20 community filters to the people of Ukraine. The filters have been now received and distributed across the country by the Rotary WASH Hub in Lviv. These filters will be able to meet all the water needs for up to 10,000 people, a truly wonderful gift to families suffering the effects of this terrible disaster. This latest shipment was the 16th consignment we have sent to Ukraine over the past 2 years. With the war showing no signs of abating we plan to send a17th in the near future
The past 18 months have proved to be a very busy period for Aquabox and thanks to the great generosity of our friends and supporters we were able to respond to several natural and man-made disasters across the world. This has included, Yemen, Pakistan/ Afghanistan, Puerto Rico, Malawi as well as the shipments to Ukraine.
During the past 6 months a major focus has been responding to Turkey and Syria in the aftermath of the earthquake that has devastated the region. Working with partners in Turkey and Syria, it has been possible to respond to families and communities in both countries.
Last night was our Presidents Night. Here are a few photos of our lovely night, held at the Captains Club Hotel & Spa in Christchurch.
A huge thank you to the team that worked so hard to make the Wishing Well Walk 2024 happen. Also to all those who gave up their time to be involved in marshalling on the day and not least of course the walkers. We were blessed with the weather!
Kelvin and Pippa Medley-Jones of the Primrose Trust very generously offered to match fund the first 20 people to reach £100 or more in sponsorship. They have amazingly actually offered to match all monies raised on Just Giving - £1772. This means that with Gift Aid and other monies collected through registration and donations, the total raised by the Wishing Well Walk will be £4,647.36. This will be shared equally between the four charities – Christchurch Foodbank, Olivia Inspires, Macmillan Caring Locally and Rotary Charities.
