Congratulations to our friends Lochgelly High School on their 1st place in the grade and Capital District Youth for winning the drumming 👏

We are delighted to report that the band were 3rd in the European Championships in Novice B at the weekend. We played in glorious sunshine and enjoyed listening to lots of great music too! Next stop, the World Pipe Band Championships!

We would like to congratulate Dollar Academy Pipe Band for winning the overall and Burntisland and District Pipe Band for winning the drumming.

Some snaps from a very busy June that saw the band compete at the British Championships in Forres, gaining 6th Place in Novice B and the Benarty (lochore) Pipe Band Competition, gaining 2nd place in the same grade. Both competitions bookended 6 University of Dundee graduation ceremonies and a Sports Day performance. Congratulations to all the competing bands and prize winners at these competitions and a HUGE pat on the back for all the pupils involved! Well done!

We are looking forward to competing at the Benarty (Lochore) Pipe Band Competition on Saturday. The Band plays at 10.02 in Novice Juvenile B. We look forward to seeing you there and good luck to the rest of the bands.

Fantastic results for a number of HSD Pipe Band pupils yesterday at the Arbroath Music festival - Piping Competition.

Earlier this term we were extremely fortunate to have a visit from the Current World Adult Solo Tenor Drumming Champion, Cameron Sinclair, who put our budding musicians through their paces.

Mr Sinclair will be returning this Saturday from 9.30 - 11.30am for another free workshop for any HSD pupil that would like to learn the Bass or Tenor Drum. What a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to learn from the World's best!

A special mention to young Brodie L who received his pipes that morning!!🤩 They are great group of hard working and enthusiastic pupils. Another brilliant concert filled with talent musicians from start to finish. The future is bright!

The band has had a jam packed month of engagements and ceremonies to prepare for. A lot of the time you don’t get to see the hard put in behind the scenes from our pupils, so here is an example for you. Our Pipe Band mentorship program in full view, with senior pupils teaching the development pupils new repertoire.
