A common misconception regarding wedding rings is you both should have matching rings

When in actual fact you should really go for something unique to you and your style. Afteral you'll be wearing it for a long time. No point having to wear something you aren't all that fussed about, right?

Here's an example 👇

2 very different wedding rings. The only thing they have in common is that they are both 18ct white gold. So if you want to have a wee nod to each other but don't want to have the same designs, think about the metal or stones used instead.

That way, you both get something you will love for years to come.

Hanging up my tools to spend some time with my girls. I will be in the odd weekend during this time, but I really need a rest. My health hasn't been the best lately and needing to recharge.

With wedding season in full swing you guys have been keeping me busy.

Yesterday this beaut of a wedding ring was collected by it's new owner.

My client had a clear vision in mind of what he wanted: an 18ct white gold textured ring with a Klinkarhun runic inscription, and here is what we came up with.

Not jewellery related in the slightest but something very close to my own heart I would like to share.

Today is ARFID Awarness day.
As a mother of a child with ARFID I can't express enough how horrible and stressful this is. It impacts everything in my daughters life as well as her mental and physical wellbeing and everyone that has close contact with her.

It's unfortunately not very well known and it's only in recent years that Dr's are starting to recognise it.

One thing to note about ARFID is, it is not fussy or picky eating. The difference between a picky eater and a child with Arfid (this is on the arfid UK website) is a picky eater will eventually eat when hungry, someone with ARFID would literally starve themselves to death.

It's also becoming more and more common in children these days. So please at least look this up and make sure you recognise the signs.

I knew right from the weaning stage there was something wrong with my daughter and have been fighting her corner since then. It's only now we are just starting to scratch the surface but the toll it has taken over the years has been horrendous. I feel that if medical professionals had been more educated or even knew about ARFID, and had listened to me at the start Eryn would have been in a very different place.

So please educate yourself about ARFID You may even be in contact with a child you think is just a fussy eater and in fact it could be something way more serious

This was a remodel of old sentimental gold which my client inherited after her gran passed away. She wanted 2 special rings created for her and one of her family memebers as a special present and a way to remember her gran.
There's even a wee hidden element on the inside of the shanks. Can you spot it? I'll give you a clue 🐉🪰

Saturday morning, I had Sam in the workshop finishing off his tube set ring.

Sam is new to jewellery making but has definitely caught the bug.

A couple of weeks ago, he had a 1 to 1 session where we looked at constructing the ring and finishing. This session was all about setting the stone, and what a great job he did making and setting his 1st tube set ring 👏

I used to have a wee furball called Dexter😻 years ago who kept me company. Nowadays, I have these 2 wee cheeky faces ❤️

Skye enjoys trying to swing from my pendant motor. Whereas Eryn loves to twirl in my chair 🤣

Sometimes, when designing, particularly with wedding rings, I'll often mock up a silver example.
These rings are some examples of different textures, slightly different widths and sizes. The customer can then try them out and see which would suit them best.

Seeing people's reactions to their new jewellery, especially when it holds such meaning for them, is just the best.

Behind every piece I make there is a story relating to the wearer, and this lovely wee Ester flower necklace set with a blue sapphire is no exception.
My client commissioned this piece for her niece to represent her niece's Dad who sadly passed away. Ester flowers were meaningful to them and a wee blue sapphire to signify birthstone.
Hopefully this necklace will bring a lot of happiness as well as lots of lovely memories ❤️

I've been pretty quiet on here lately, mainly because I'm super busy working away on lots of lovely commissions, teaching classes, and generally catching up with all things work since being off ill.

I do have some exciting news though. Some of you may already seen my stories and already know!

Who says wedding rings have to match?

As far as I'm concerned they should be uniquely you. After all, you'll be wearing it for a long time and looking at it every day. So make sure you pick something you will love and cherish.
Here's an example of just that. 2 very different rings, but each fitted the clients personality and style.

I created this platinum and black diamond engagement ring towards the end of last year. Shows you how far behind I am in the old social media postings

My client knew exactly what she wanted so the design process was a little different than it usually is.
We discussed shapes of shanks for the ring and I showed examples of these. I also showed examples of gemstones in different sizes and once we had narrowed that down I mocked up a ring in silver to let the client try out how the ring would feel and how it would be as she went about her everyday life. This is very important especially with a big stone you will be wearing all the time.

Once she had tested it out for a week or so she decided this was what she wanted and I went about sourcing her a lovely black diamond. I then created the ring in platinum and set the black diamond with talon claws.

Can't believe it is week 4 already for my Beginners 6 week block.
This week they were making their very own sterling silver ring. Learning all about calculating sizes, soldering, forming, texturing and polishing. There is more to it than you think.
A very busy morning indeed, and they absolutely smashed it.

My beginner students are already half way through their 6 week block of learning the basic fundamental techniques. Today, they were learning all about soldering.
It was a busy morning, and I completely forgot to take photos apart from this one 🤦‍♀️

Next week they will be making silver rings. Will try and remember to take more photos.
