Today we welcomed Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes and Scottish Enterprise Chief Executive Adrian Gillespie to announce an ยฃ8million grant contribution to the construction of the University's Life Sciences Innovation Hub.
Scheduled to open next year, the Hub will anchor high-growth spinout companies and create jobs and financial benefit for the local region as part of the wider Tay Cities Region Deal.

Congratulations to Emeritus Professor Geoff Gadd, Boyd Baxter Chair of Biology in Life Sciences, University of Dundee , who has been awarded an OBE in the Kingโs Birthday Honours List.
Professor Gadd has been honoured for services to Mycology and Environmental Microbiology.
He said: โI am absolutely delighted to receive this honour, after a long career in science assisted by many wonderful people."
Over a career lasting 45 years he has published over 300 research papers and received a host of international awards.
We are delighted to share that Ingo Hein, Jens Januschke, Stephen Land, Marios Stavridis and Susan Wyllie have been promoted to Personal Chair (Professor) as part of the 2023-24 Annual Review process for academic and research staff.

Congratulations to Graham Christie who has been appointed the new Associate Dean International for the School and will also become a member of the School Executive Group. He will take over from Kim Dale on 1 May. We thank Kim for her all her work in role for the past 10 years.
Edit: Kim will continue in her position as Assistant Vice-Principal (International) for the University. A role which she has held since September 2021.

Congratulations to Professor Sarah Coulthurst who has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in recognition of their impact in improving the world around them.
Sarah is a Professor of Microbial Interactions and her longstanding research area has involved studying how bacteria interact with each other, and how these interactions are important for bacteria to cause disease. Her contributions have been recognised by the Microbiology Society Fleming Prize and the Royal Society of Edinburgh Patrick Neill Medal.
