Nurture Durham is hiring tutors again for A-Level, GCSE and University entrance exams. We are looking for DURHAM UNIVERSITY STUDENTS who are adaptable in their teaching style and are willing to collaborate in our team meetings to help each other improve in various scenarios with students. Please message the tagged page with the following information:

- All of your preferred subjects to tutor and their respective levels e.g. 'History A-Level'
- What year you are in at Durham University
- CV (optional)
- Why you feel you are a good fit for Nurture Durham
- DBS certificate (read below if you don't have one)
- A topic or question you would like to teach a student (in around 10 minutes) e.g. 'How to derive the equation of a circle'

Video solution coming soon! This question stumped many GCSE students in the 2022 Edexcel Paper 1 (non-calculator) exam, and it’s a tricky one! How would you try to solve it?

The reason we tutor is because we really care and want to help you succeed. One of my favourite experiences was meeting Dylan, a maths GCSE student who had failed twice before coming to Nurture. He was visibly down and told me he wasn’t enjoying maths at all, and that his teacher didn’t help him when he was struggling.

I asked him to try an algebra question in our first session, and quickly realised that he didn’t understand how to approach it step-by-step. I showed him the basic rules and some examples, and after making a few mistakes he was thriving in the topic. After the session, he had a beaming smile and was incredibly thankful -‘I’ll practise more questions when I get home!’- he wanted to do maths after feeling two years of terror from not grasping algebra and not being helped through his errors. Five weeks later, his grade had soared from a 2 to a 5, in turn passing his GCSE!

For me, the feeling of satisfaction really came from how confident he felt expressing himself - all he needed was support to help him climb his ladder. Every student deserves to feel confident in their subject, and we hope we can assist your child to reach their potential.
