Hosted at Collingwood College on the 27th, 28th and 29th of August, we provide a range of activities for kids to get involved in β from playing in virtual reality, to reaction time games to developing creative skills. We provide free parking and refreshments (tea/coffee, biscuits) and there is no cost β you simply have to book.

Check out the Junior Scientist event at Durham University β a 2.5 hour session of fun & engaging activities that will give young minds (ages 4-11 years) a fantastic introduction to mind and brain.

Why not make a day of it? You could spend either the morning or the afternoon visiting the Universityβs Botanical Gardens (on the same site as Junior Scientist). There is no charge for children to visit the gardens and there are lots of fabulous activities here too.

We are once again so pleased to to announce that Junior Scientist is returning this summer, and once again, bigger and better than last year! βΊοΈ
We will be running across 3 days this yearβ the 27th, 28th and 29th of August (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) to bring super fun activities alongside research studies for 4-11 year olds.
Same place β Collingwood College, Durham University
There will again be new activities, new studies and new goodies !π€©π€©
As was the case last year β there will be morning or afternoon sessions to sign up to, and it is all free π

We are soooo excited to kick-off Junior Scientist tomorrow!! Over the next 3 days we will be welcoming over 200 children and parents to Collingwood College for an action packed fun-filled session of psychological science. From virtual reality, to reaction time tasks, to prism goggles, face painting and more......we are ready!!!

We are so thrilled that our Junior Scientist event was so well-received from those who took part.
Parents gave us a 9/10 rating for how much their children enjoyed the event (50% rated us 10/10).
98% of parents said the event had engaged their child in Psychology and Science
100% of parents said the event had a positive impact on their child.

We had soooooo much fun running the Junior Scientist event!
We welcomed 77 Junior Scientists over two days, and we engaged them in a whole range of exciting activities with a psychological and scientific basis. We also collected research data for 6 Psychology studies! It was a busy two days!

Did you know that humans share 60% of their DNA with fruit flies? In fact, around 75% of genes that cause disease in humans are also found in fruit flies, which is why scientists often use them to learn about human diseases!

We are delighted to be taking bookings for our Junior Scientist Event in August.
There will be 4 available options, between the 22nd and 23rd of August : either 10 a.m. -12.30 p.m., or 2p.m. - 4.30 p.m. on Monday the 22nd or Tuesday the 23rd. We can offer ONE session per child.
Securing a place is a two-step process.
Step 1 β complete this online form. It just asks for some basic details. LINK - https://forms.office.com/r/y3AvB5ZHr6
Step 2 β we will email you a link with more detailed information, a consent form that must be signed and some questionnaires that must be completed. This stage is necessary in order to secure a place for your child. When we have this information we will provide you with a ticket for the event and we will provide you with a car parking permit for your session.
If you want to sign-up multiple children, you will need to fill in separate forms for each. Children must be aged between 4-11 years to take part. There will be a maximum of 25 children per session.
