Pilates for Fencers - Warm Up 1
Here's a good warm-up for your whole body before going onto the piste and one to do regularly throughout the week! From the toes, all the way up to your shoulders, Victoria Enaut, founder of Body in Motion Pilates, guides you through a series of exercises to mobilise and strengthen your joints and challenge your balance. She also shows you ways to progress each exercise with the use of small equipment such as weights. For more fencing-specific Pilates and mobility training videos please visit https://bodyinmotionpilates.vhx.tv.
Pilates for Fencers - Standing Pilates with Julianna Revesz
https://bodyinmotionpilates.vhx.tv/videos/pilates-with-julianna-revesz
Join Julianna Revesz, former World Number One epee fencer from Hungary, and Victoria Enaut, founder of Body in Motion Pilates in this 30' long Pilates for Fencers session. It's ideal as a warm up but also as a routine to practice regularly in between training sessions. I cover all joints, from the ankles to the shoulders, working both mobility and stability in a most relevant way for fencing. Victoria also brings in some symmetry so as to tackle the imbalances caused by the sport. Clare Balding: "How do you stay present?"
John McEnroe: "I prefer if you EMBRACE -- with the mental health talks that have been going on the last few years -- it's better to ADMIT YOUR FAILINGS at times, it's ok, you don't win every time, sometimes it doesn't go as planned and you've got to learn from that."
Even serial winner John McEnroe gets it! So nice to see more skilful language at Wimbledon this year - around mental health, mental skills, performance, presence, forgiveness, compassion. It's NOT all about grit, blocking things out and being a machine.
The culture of sport is changing.
Our work is about bringing this healthier approach to all sports and all levels of sport.
As Simon Mundie BBC Sport said: "The True Athlete Project is undoubtedly one of the most interesting and important organisations in the world of sport currently."

About Victoria:
Victoria is a Body Control Pilates teacher with over 9 years’ experience of teaching movement. She took up fencing as a hobby over a year ago and quickly became interested in applying her knowledge of movement to the requirements of the sport so as to help her fellow fencers with injury prevention and rehabilitation. As part of her Level 4 qualification she used fencing as her case study.
Her focus is on increasing fencers’ performance by reinforcing good movement habits and improving their technical and physical fitness in a way that is most effective and efficient. Her classes will help you increase the range of movement of your hips, shoulders and spine and increase the stability of your ankles and knees. This in turn will feed into your general agility, balance and endurance!
Victoria is also keen to help setting off the muscular imbalances caused by the asymmetrical nature of the sport so as to make sure you are able to go about your daily life and enjoy your other hobbies injury and pain free.
