How often should I get a massage? 👐🏻
This is a question I get asked a lot! And the answer is that there is no right answer or secret formula 🤷‍♀️
It all depends on the physical demands you put on your body and how your body reacts to these. When I worked for a premiership rugby union team, the players were getting 2 to 4 massages per week during the playing season. Most elite athletes get at least 1 massage per week. Oh to be a professional 💭 😉
But for most of us amateur athletes who still take our sport and training seriously, or for regular gym-goers, once a week to once a fortnight is recommended to see and feel the benefits 🤩
For most people who do regular light exercise then once every 2, 3 or 4 weeks is usually sufficient👌🏻
What about when recovering from an injury? 🤕 In this case, then more frequent sports massage targeting the injured area is recommended until the injury has healed and you have pain-free full range of movement again. This is certainly the case if you are planning to continue your training and/or competing and are unable to give your injury sufficient time to recover.

👇🏻Tried to use of my time off ‘clinic time’ during the last lockdown constructively (and it made a welcome escape from the homeschooling malarkey 😂) and so I completed the FMT RockPods course. Now I’m excited to use this myofascial manipulation technique on my clients 👐🏻 The pods allow me to grab, pull and push fascia to treat pain, mobility and movement dysfunctions. And it feels therapeutic too 👌🏻

As I’m sure you are all expecting, there have been some additional policies and procedures implemented here to meet all Government guidelines in relation to reducing the risk, and spread of COVID-19 during close contact services like sports massage. I will be doing my utmost to keep you all as safe as possible during the pandemic.
A detailed overview of the new procedures can be viewed on the website. To view please visit the website. But key points to be aware of👇🏻
✔️The use of PPE. I will be wearing a mask, visor and disposable apron during treatments.
✔️Clients are required to wear a mask throughout their appointments (unless medically exempt), including upon arrival and departure. Masks will be available should you forget for a small surcharge.
✔️Additional cleaning protocols are in place. Despite cleanliness always being paramount prior to this, further measures are being implemented in the clinic now and several hand sanitizers are easily accessible throughout the premises.
✔️Clients will be contacted the day prior to their appointment and I will ask some COVID-19 symptom screening questions to check you are symptom free. I will also confirm that I am symptom free too.
✔️Contactless temperature check on arrival at the clinic.
✔️Clients are asked to come to the appointment alone where possible.
This may seem like a lot, but I will ensure minimum disruption to your appointment (other than the visual differences 😷) as all appointments will be scheduled to allow the thorough and extensive cleaning to take place between every client. As such, I am fully confident that you will enjoy a very similar experience that you’ve been used to pre-pandemic 🙏🏻 Get yourself booked in 😉 👐🏻

It’s been a while, but I want to say a big hello 👋 check in with all of my lovely clients and update you with what’s been going on here at since all things COVID-19 interrupted normal life and sports massage services.
As well as a whole lot of homeschooling 👩‍🏫 training at home and Netflix, I was unfortunately involved in a pretty serious accident at the end of May. I was knocked over by a motorbike during a long training run and suffered several major trauma injuries 🤕 So I have been in full on recovery mode since, with a couple of weeks spent in the RVI in Newcastle and then continued my recovery journey at home.
I am now feeling so much better 🙏🏻 and I am absolutely ready to REOPEN THE CLINIC here and resume hands on sports massage appointments 👐🏻 with stringent Covid-19 policies and procedures in place of course 😷 🧼 More info on those to follow 📝
