We are looking to start hiring/clinic/lessons for external people on Winston very soon! We will let you know once he is available.

Well we had a lovely day at the dressage this morning, I would like to say a huge thank you to all our competitors this morning for helping to keep things running smoothly until our stewards arrived, you all did a super job!
Was lovely too see some returning faces from last year and welcome some new competitors along! Everyone did a brilliant job! Big thank you to our yard manager Kate for getting arenas set up for us yesterday, and for Emma, Heidi and Jade for helping out today! We could not have managed without you!

It's here! We're very excited to have received delivery of our amazing new Racewood Eventing Simulator, and our staff have been trained on it today.

Huge thank you to Racing to School who kindly offered us a day at the races following a talk earlier in the year to our equine students on the job and career opportunities within the racing industry 🐎🐴

Students got a behind the scenes tour of the race track, weigh room and jockey locker rooms, discussed jobs and equipment in the industry, they got to watch some races and even got to meet the winning jockey of the first race 🏁🏆🥇fantastic day all round!

After a successful year with 100% pass rate on our BHS stage courses the time has arrived to plan for September!

What Part-time BHS courses would people be interested in starting in September?

These courses are aimed at people with prior equine experience and the ability to practice/ revise both practical skills and theory away from the course.

· BHS Silver challenge Award About the Horse (4 units) (this will allow you to move onto BHS Stage 2 care and Lunge without completing stage 1).

· BHS Silver challenge Award About the Rider (4 units including ride out safely) (this will allow you to move onto the BHS Stage 2 Ride without completing the stage 1 (assessment lesson required before the course)

· BHS Stage 1 Care (8-10 week course, one evening a week for 3 hours, with an external exam at the end, Course cost £300 exam costs £140)

· BHS Level 2 Foundation groom (Stage 2 Care and Lunge 10 week course, one evening a week for 3 hours plus home study/revision ) Course cost is £487 this includes training and exam fees (there may be remission on this subject to age, household income and/or prior attainment)

· Stage 2 Ride This is 1 hour riding lesson a week covering the syllabus with an exam at the end. It will be a 10 week course (£250), though you may have to repeat/continue if you do not meet the standard to have your skills record for the exam. Exam fee is £193 set by the BHS (assessment lesson required before the course)

· BHS Level 3 groom (Stage 3 Care and Lunge 10 week course, one evening a week for 3 hours plus home study ) Course cost is £300 external exam fee set by the BHS is £193 for care £110 Lunge

Our students had a fantastic day out at Bramham Horse Trials today 🐴 🐎 with lots of money spent and mini busses filled with shopping bags 🛍️ thankfully the weather was on our side today ☀️

Dressage on Sunday 28th April- Unfortunately due to low numbers of entries we are having to cancel this dressage competition, we have made the decision early to allow people time to try and find elsewhere to compete if they wish to.

BHSQ Level 3 Groom (Stage 3) | East Durham College With our BHSQ Level 3 Groom course you'll gain the opportunity to work higher in the equine industry into more senior roles.

We have guess the weight of our biggest horse £1 a guess, Westgate Labs here to advise on worm counts and Here4Horses with their stall. Durham equine vets to give a talk on horse welfare.

We are looking to run BHS Silver Challenge Awards after February half term. This will be on a Tuesday evening starting at 5.30pm. We are looking to offer 2 courses, a 4 week About the Horse course (horse care) and a 6 week About the Rider course (riding including ride safe). The Silver Challenge award allows direct access to the BHS stage 2 exam if it is registered with the BHS.

The cost of the courses are £150 for the care and for the riding it is £150 for the course and £27.50 for the booklets.

Before enrolling onto the ride course you will have to undertake an assessment lesson, we are planning to run these on the afternoon and early evening of 20th Feb, the cost of this lesson is £25 for 45mins.
