Learn how people spent their leisure time at a community course taught by Durham University postgraduate students.

The course, Leisure in the Medieval and Early Modern World, will include lectures, hands-on workshops and a session on accessing archives led by Palace Green Library’s rare books librarian. It is organised by the Medieval and Early Modern Student Association (MEMSA), supported by the Institute for Medieval and Early Modern Studies - IMEMS. Anyone with an interest can apply—no prior knowledge or academic qualifications are required.

Topics will include:

*The Bayeux Tapestry
*Monks in medieval Durham
*Tudor performance culture
*Weaving and storytelling
*14th century tournaments
*Early modern craft guilds

Course sessions will be on Thursday evenings over eight weeks, between 25th May and 13th July, from 6.30-8.30 p.m. at 7 Owengate, Durham.
