Experience preferred but not essential. Once trained you will be required to lock up a couple of evenings a week, so must be at least 18yrs old. Also due to our location being able to drive would help.
An outgoing friendly personality is a must as you will be required to work as part of our team and engage with all of our customers.
To apply please hand a CV into The Derwent Walk Inn and address it to Mr Steven Justice.

The rainbow bridge was buzzing
Animals stood in line
From elderly sheep, to mangy dogs
They knew this was the time.
This wonderful man with a heart of gold
Spent his spare time saving them all
Salvaged from slaughter and saved from hell
He was the one to call.
His compassion was endless, he wanted them all
To take every one for his own
He cried at the cruelty, held them all tight
Many he took to his home.
His talent for comedy was world renowned
His quick, dry humour, was his gift
Accompanied by Buster, his love of dogs was clear
As every episode was full of mirth filled wit.
His silent love was Battersea, where he helped behind the scenes
To help to find a home for every pet
Prime time schedules helped his cause, to find more loving homes
Became a favourite on our tv sets.
By now the field was full, as many more lined up
The clouds beginning to clear to let him through
Paul O Grady, gave a grin and opened wide his arms
“Come here, every single one of you!”
RIP Paul O Grady
We thought this message was so important. We are dog friendly but even a wander along on your own our staff will be waiting to welcome you. Even better now the nights are lighter there’s no excuse not to pop out along the Derwent Walk.x
After receiving this review yesterday evening, we would just like to understand where people get there information from.
The tips are all shared out amongst every staff member, us “Greedy Owners” as we have been described do not take any of the staffs tips, nor have we ever.
So if “Kevin A” would like to call back into the pub and leave a tip for the staff, they would be very grateful, rather than spreading malicious rumours on a faceless review site. Or I would be happy to have a discussion with you face to face. The choice is yours?x

Greedy owners
Food was average staff were great but don’t like the fact the owners take a slice of the tips , so won’t be going back
Date of visit: March 2023
Seems unreal, that this was now 3 years ago.x
Happy Mothers Day to all who are celebrating with us today.x
As the rumour mill has fairly started to circulate now. We would just like to say that we are definitely NOT closing.
Marstons the brewery we are tied to informed us at the beginning of January ( out of the blue ), that they were putting the building up for sale. We have submitted our best offer to buy the building as currently we only own the business and rent the building from them. It has currently gone on the open market this week, hence the numerous messages we have been receiving asking if we have been sold or still open. But we just need to wait and see what’s going to happen.
Worst case scenario the building sells to another company or individual and we keep renting from them. In an ideal world we would like to buy the building and then we would have full control over our business, meaning we could buy hand pull beers, lagers, ciders and bottles versions from where ever we wanted to, giving us control over the prices.
So for the moment we just need to keep calm and carry on. We employ a lot of local people and the rumours certainly don’t help them.
The best we could ask for from you is that you carry on coming in and supporting us all. We have been here for 15 years this year and in an ideal world we don’t want to go anywhere.
So please share this post for us to stop the gossips.
Thank you. X
The roads are clear but the view was gorgeous on our snowy school run this morning.x
***Tables only available now from 4pm onwards**
We have a couple of tables left for Mothers Day around 12pm. After that it will be from 3.30pm onwards as we are fully booked before then. Please drop us a message or give us a call to book. Don’t leave it to late.x

Our Story
Welcome to the Derwent Walk Inn.
Steven and I (Gemma) have owned the Derwent Walk Inn for the past 10 years. We have 2 young children, Oliver (9) and Aurelia-Grace (4). Along with 2 crazy dogs Fudgy & Zuma. You might not always see us around the pub but we are always working on the business. I tend to do all the jobs that no one gets to see, i.e Accounts, Wages, Marketing etc. Steven however is there most days as he is our Head Chef, he tends to start as early as 6am most days and is always hidden away in the kitchen, as did you know the majority of our food is made from scratch, so as you can imagine its always busy in there with lots to do. That is why we have a team of around 11 staff who help us run and look after the pub.
The Derwent Walk Inn if you haven’t been before is a country pub set on the outskirts of Ebchester in Consett, Co. Durham.
Our conservatory & outside decking area have stunning views over the Derwent Valley.
Our bar area has an open fire for you to come in & get warm during the winter months
We have ample parking spaces and provide disabled parking bays at the front of the pub. We also provide a bike rack at the front of the pub and have a disabled toilet as well as baby changing facilities.
The pub serves a wide variety of Jenning's Ales along with a good selection of lagers, bottled beers & ciders, wines & soft drinks. We are Cask Marque Approved.
We often cater for christenings, birthdays, weddings, funerals and walking groups no matter what the size. So if you would like to discuss your event please feel free to contact us and we will discuss how we can accommodate your requirement.
