I went from an active person (a runner) to disabled overnight - but as I see it, it is what it is. I cannot change what has happened I have to accept it and move on, otherwise I would let the black dog win.

I was determined I was never going to let that happen as I'd already been down that road with postnatal depression and had managed to pick myself up from that. So I wasn't going to let my disability beat me down.”

On the original photo, .curls spoke of reparenting their inner child through the use of tattoos. I have to say I feel the same! After years of being told to keep my body ‘professional’ and modest, it feels wonderful to customise it and not seek permission from anyone.

I think I will do an edit where I finesse it, but there’s something I’m enjoying about the unfinished vibe.
