Ah well suppose you always have YouTube, grandad, uncle K**b and "the bloke next door that's into biking" to rely on. You see, your right we're not glitzy, shinny, online savvy, bike to work or credit brokers but, when you turned up in need we did our best to keep you on the road or get your child to school or paper round, pram rolling properly to save putting your back out, wheelchair rolling to keep you independent, fixed your zimmer frames, wheel barrows, mobility scooters and and sack barrows but, in a blink you see an announcement/post of another "Small, local independent family business" gone......Comments and likes and emojis wont keep them open....................When their gone their gone. Support your "local service providers and retailers" it may take a little more effort than tap, tap click but, am sure the experience will be worth more than checking with your neighbours to see if they had a parcel stuffed behind their bin....🫡

🚔 On Thursday 31 August, the Worksop Neighbourhood Policing Team took action as we seized an e-scooter in Worksop.

The rider's reckless behaviour and attempt to evade led to this outcome 🛴

📢 Recent input from Bassetlaw residents in a Police and Crime survey has underlined that irresponsible e-scooter riding is a top concern. It's clear that this is a priority for the community and we're listening.

📜 It's essential to remember that e-scooters are classified as motor vehicles according to the Road Traffic Act 1988. Therefore, the same rules that apply to regular motor vehicles also apply to e-scooters, including the need for a license, insurance, and tax.

🛣️ The message is simple: e-scooters are not permitted on the road. There's no room for exceptions. No "ifs" or "buts."

🛴 In Nottingham, authorised e-scooter hire schemes are in place. These e-scooters are well-maintained, insured, and riders are registered within the scheme. 💼

While we are committed to tackling more serious crimes, the situation with careless e-scooter riding demands our attention for the safety of everyone.

💔 Tragically, Nottinghamshire has already witnessed a fatal collision involving an e-scooter.

Taking a firm stance on this issue is necessary, and we make no apologies for it. If you choose to ride an e-scooter unlawfully, be aware that we will seize it. 🛴🚫

There have been a lot of comments regarding E-Bikes and particularly the homemade or adapted bicycles fitted with batteries and motors sourced off the internet.

E-Bikes or EAPC are built specifically as such with motors and batteries tested and conforming to legislation and safety testing. The kits bought off the internet will not conform to the legislation and therefore are not EAPC's. When a bicycle is fitted with one of these kits they become a moped and require MoT, TAX and most importantly INSURANCE. it is not possible to get insurance for these bikes so if used on the road will be subject to siezure under section 165a of the Road Traffic Act.

Below is a basic guide to EAPC's. We strongly recommend that you do your homework prior to buying or fitting these kits off the internet.

Key points
E-bikes that meet the current EAPC regulations, minus a few exceptions, are treated as normal bicycles. The basic requirements are:

the cycle must be fitted with pedals that can propel it;
the electric motor must not exceed a maximum continuous rated power of 250W; and
the electric motor must not offer electrical assistance beyond a speed 15.5mph.
Any other e-bikes that do not meet the EAPC regulations are subject to type approval and any associated registration, tax and licencing

With the nights drawing in and cost of everything going up, we can set aside your Christmas Bike for a small deposit then, you can pay as much or as little as you wish as often as you can until its paid. We can also hold onto all your bikes until the 17th of December. Please, please remember when putting a deposit on a bike with us, the one you choose is the one that gets put away for you. Fuel crisis!? Jeff said he needed a pay rise to compensate for his fuel so....we invested in a new company vehicle. Am sure he'll grow into it. One evening my mother made dinner after a hard day's work. She put a plate of eggs, salad and burnt toast in front of my father ...

I immediately noticed, the burnt toast .... And, I was waiting to see if he was going to complain about it, but my father started to eat them, smiling and asked me how I spent my day at school ...

My mom apologized to my dad for the burnt toast. I will never forget his response to her: "Honey, I love burnt toast!"

Later when I went to bed and my dad came over to kiss me goodnight, I asked him if he really liked the burnt toast?

He hugged me and said, "Your mother has had a difficult day and she is really tired. She went out of her way to prepare this meal for us, why blame her and hurt her.
Burnt toast never hurt anyone; but words can be very painful! "
