Wow. Are we on the brink of greatness? Sir Ben Ainslie's INEOS Britannia crew has made history once already, by making it to the finals of the 2024 America's Cup in Barcelona yesterday. The last time Britain got this far was 60 years ago. If they can take the next step, a place in the history books surely beckons. The first time the 'Auld Mug' was won, was by America in 1851 when this oldest competition in International sport truly began from Cowes IOW. Will the 173 years of British hurt be finally over. It won't be easy as the Kiwis will be using all of their skill and all of their phenomenal technical knowhow to ensure that, come the close of the best-of-17 series, they are again the winners. But we, along with all other British yacht clubs, will be willing a GB victory. We will be showing it on our TV screens next Saturday afternoon.
