Antique Japanese Satsuma Thousand Faces Immortal Tea Set Meiji Period circa 1900 | eBay Superb late 19thC or early 20thC Japanese Satsuma pottery tea set decorated with the ever popular Thousand Faces or Immortal pattern depicting a dragon and the Japanese immortals. This set consists of a tea pot, hot water pot or milk jug and lidded sucrier.

Today's featured item and the first of 2023, is this wonderful and wacky piece of studio pottery by Scottish based potter Philomena Pretsell. Philomena has been exibited worldwide and some of her pieces are held in the collections of museums including the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza.
This monumental piece measures 40cm in height and weights 3.5kg.

Today's featured item is this stunning early 20thC Iraqi Silver & Niello Dallah coffee pot decorated with a scene of the Tomb of Ezra, sail boats, camels and palm trees all above a geometric band. This pot was presented as a gift at Xmas and bears the inscription "J.Shaloo O.S to G.D.Main D.R 25.12.27". Iraqi silver and niello items have become highly collected in recent years and many have a military connection due to the large number of personel stationed in the region during the inter war years. Today's featured item is this wonderful piece of Italian mid-century pottery by Ceramiche Paoli. Set up by Bruno Paoli just after WW2 in Montelupo Fiorentino which is the same city as Bitossi whose style can be seen in this vase. It is possible that this was made to an Aldo Londi design who did work for other factories in addition to Bitossi. Available through my eBay shop using the link below.

Today's featured item is this 19thC vase by Coalport decorated by hand in the Aesthetic style with birds, butterflies and moths. Standing 28.5cm(11.2") in height and of scalloped form this vase was made circa 1870 and is marked with the factory stamp used between 1860-1881.

Today's featured item is this unusually large Chinese ginger jar dating to the late Qing period. Finely painted in the eternally popular prunus on cracked ice pattern which represents the transition from winter to spring this jar stands at 33cm(13") in height and weighs 2.7kg.
