"Sunday"means : holiday , relax, have fun, spend some time with friends or family and that is what we had last Sunday, a wonderful afternoon among friends and new friends , laughing all together in a while we were tasting a stunning Whiskies that have been distilled by Ardnamurchan Distillery.
Thanks to Antonia and Dj that they were sharing with us the story of Ardnamurchan / Old Adelphi.

- LOCH GORM 2022

22 shades of Oloroso!

This year Loch Gorm, is a combination of 22 casks which previously aged Bodega Jose y Miguel Martin sherry before ageing their peaty single malt.

During a careful selection, the experts at Kilchoman wanted to grab the best qualities from the different casks to create a perfect balance; the freshness of the eight year old compared to the complexity and character of older casks.

This selection results in a fruity balanced sweetness and pipe smoke on the nose, while on the palate an initial note of dark chocolate opens the flavour, followed by caramel, dates and cinnamon.

46% / 70cl

A few words about the distillery…

Founded in 2005 is the first distillery to be built on Islay for over 120 years, representing the traditions of Scotch whisky by still practicing floor malting. Kilchoman is a farm distillery, with barley also grown on the farm, that complete all parts of the whisky making process on site.

A “new” old gem from Campbeltown!

Smoked meats, raspberry jam, waxy apples… no, it is not a Sunday morning, and you are not at your granny’s house but all these notes you can find on the nose when approaching a dram of this 8 year old Kilkerran. On the palate, a burst of smokiness is quickly balanced with sweet apples and strawberry laces in contrast with some savoury notes, to finish, salted butter with a hint of seaweed.

57.9% ABV/ 70cl

A few words about the distillery…

Campbeltown once was the undisputed Whisky Capital of the World, with more than 30 distilleries and abundance of peat, barley and coal. Unfortunately, and inevitably, this situation proved unsustainable and by 1935 the bubble burst, leaving Springbank and Glen Scotia the only two distilleries remaining.

This until 2004 when the Glengyle finally reopened its doors!

The whisky there is distilled under the name Kilkerran Single Malt which is the Gaelic translation for Campbelltown, in order to differentiate it from the Glengyle vatted malt produced by Loch Lomond distillery.

A long last tradition, finally brought back to life!

Man O’ Words Bourbon 2015 -

A delightful new entry in our Bourbon family! 

From Lowland, this bourbon was distilled in 2015 and bottled 5 years later , aged in a Ex-bourbon Cask this option comes to the palate with beautiful sweet notes of pear drops, cream soda and fresh green Granny Smith apple… an explosion of tropical fruits including mango, pineapple and lingering notes of vanilla!

Purely distilled at cask strength with an ABV of 61,6% / 70cl, this superb unchillfiltered single malt will burst in your mouth packed full of chewy barley, malt and spice!

A few words about the distillery…

In 2006, Annandale distillery has been closed for almost 90 years, in the South Scotland only few distilleries were left: William Grant’s grain distillery in Girvan and Diageo’s Glenkinchie Distillery to the East of Edinburgh. 

David Thomson and Teresa Church, were dreaming of giving a new life to the Annandale distillery founding their dreams on the prosperity of Southern Scotland, thanks to its abundance of water, peat and coal, and an ideal damp and mild weather to produce first class Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Thanks to this perfect recipe, Annandale distillery has been producing fine Scotch Malt Whisky and represent one of the finest options from Lowland!

We are delighted to announce a new product in stock:
one of the " Premier Barrel " new collection 2022 Douglas Laing & Co.

A grand bottling of Glen Garioch distillerysingle malt, independently released by Douglas Laing. Matured for eight years in a single cask, the whisky was then hand-filled into a total of 288 charming decanters, joining Douglas Laing's Premier Barrel Series.

Glen Garioch :

Although the date of Glen Garioch is officially given as being 1797, there are claims (still to be substantiated) of it producing legally at an even earlier date, a claim which if proved true would make this Oldmeldrum plant the oldest distillery in Scotland. It would make sense that there was whisky being distilled in The Garioch – a fertile part of Aberdeenshire long given over to arable farming.
Whatever the date of its formation, Glen Garioch survived when other eastern distilleries foundered. This was initially thanks to its ownership by blenders J.F. Thompson of Leith in 1884. William Sanderson of Vat 69 (at that point one of the top-selling blends in the world) became a partner in 1886 and took full control in 1908.

A 2013 Benrinnes distillery single malt from independent bottler Douglas Laing & Co. that was matured in a single sherry butt for eight years, before being being bottled in March 2022 as part of its Provenance series.

Benrinnes :

The current site of the Benrinnes distillery is in fact its second location. The original was built in 1826 by Peter MacKenzie but was destroyed in a flood in 1829. A new site was then found by John Innes.
Its most famous owner was Alexander Edward who was a partner in Craigellachie distillery, owned Aultmore, Dallas Dhu and was for a time co-owner of Oban [see Craigellachie]. The Edward family sold the distillery (which had caught fire in 1896) to John Dewar in 1922. It is now part of the Diageo stable.
