The 'new bed' transformed six months after creation, really needs a name now...

So much appreciation for the garden makes all the hard work worthwhile. Thank you to everyone who came to the open day and helped make it such a success. The real stars of the show did us proud.

One year on from planting, this pond border is showing some impressive growth and developing the pond margin habitat

It's cool to be blue in this woodland garden, and not a bluebell in sight

The magnificent Magnolia! This specimen has been maturing steadily and, with some protection from bud munching squirrels, has finally flowered.

These Marsh Marigolds are so bright. Careful division every year keeps them flowering and they are always a star performer in this pond

Providing for wildlife in the garden is so rewarding. Within half an hour of putting these bird boxes up blue t**s were checking them out

We have been working on this beast once week for the past month and we’re nearly done! Well done with the initial clearing anyway…

More winter project work on the go. This border was overgrown and neglected when our clients moved in, but seasonally showed glimmers of what it had once been. After undertaking many other projects they decided it was time for us to tackle this beast. It’s about 2ish m deep and maybe …30ish m long? We are starting by taking out docks, nettles and brambles (joys) before tackling the grass. It’s going to be a labour of love but will be fantastic to watch it take shape.

Winter gardening. I’ve had so many people recently act surprised when I’ve talked about work
“Gardeners work in the winter?!”
We do! Winter is an excellent time to tackle projects that time doesn’t allow for in the growing season. Here are two gardens getting new/expanded beds for planting up in the spring, with one of those beds also getting a TON of bulbs. Waterproofs and thermals keep us toasty and working outside on short days means we actually get to see the sun. Well… sometimes

Delighted to see this clematis continuing to bloom this late in the season- it will be exciting to see how it grows next year. These sedum as well, they looked so straggly when they were planted but clearly had strong roots and are already settling in well with their tiny basal rosettes.

The epic pond dig from earlier in the summer is settling in so well and looking fantastic.
Ponds are immeasurable in their benefit to all kinds of wildlife and something we love to add to a garden.

Now that the birds have fledged, it’s hedge trimming season. We are currently taking hedge bookings around South Edinburgh.
Any questions please feel free to get in touch.

Pond planting nearly complete- now it just needs a water lily to complete it. I do absolutely love this view.

Todays garden bounty - coming to the end of raspberry season and what a season it has been !

Well we thought Tuesdays stones were big… this mammoth topped them (and nearly us) easily.

Pond is dug, underlaid, lined and fill begun. Next job will be to get it all trimmed up and looking tidy.

Stunning morning in a gorgeous garden with the most fragrant rose arbor.

We had an extra tiny team mate at a pond dig yesterday; she had the most important task of relocating worms to new homes. I loved having my daughter watch our all female force working hard.

Bright sunny flowers and happy to be cool flowers 😎

Spent the morning in what felt like the Secret Garden, and looking forward to helping along its restoration.

The colours in this garden are next level.
This is my favourite border!

Alliums looking amazing and pond area is nearly all planted up! Beautiful sunshine today was also lovely to work in.

This is a laburnum hedge! It also has Chaenomeles growing through it which blooms earlier. I love how different and colourful it is.

Check this stunning clematis chosen for a client’s garden! Can’t wait to see it develop.

I never tire of apple blossom! Especially from these Katy apples which are AMAZING.

Happy to be nearly done with the redesign in the front garden at this house. Two clematis will be added as well as some additional shrubbery.

Also delighted that the pond construction is complete! The water will need to sit for a while before we can start adding plants so in the meantime we’ll make a start on the bog garden and border behind it.

Photos from Botanical Gardening Edinburgh's post 20/04/2023

Absolutely delighted with how this new border has turned out. Turf lifted, raked, new soil, some new plants and some rescued from the old border. Annuals are still needed to fill it out but it will be gorgeous as it fills out.

Unfortunately it makes the rest of the front borders look far too slim in comparison so here I am lifting turf again like it’s something I do for the fun of it 😬

Hi spring! Love this shrubbery in a client’s garden 😍
