Minister for Housing Paul McLennan told the opening of last week's Green Home Festival that climate change is the “defining issue of our time” and we all have a role to play to ensure we successfully transition to net zero.
Mr McLennan also took time to record a short video at the event at the home of RICS in Scotland, in which he said engagement with the construction sector about decarbonisation was "incredibly important".

That's all folks! The Green Home Festival ended in style with another busy event this afternoon as the experts from Eco-Congregation Scotland and Page\Park Architects discussed how old churches could be converted into eco-friendly housing. A great way to close a great week!
Day 4 of the Green Home Festival ended with a presentation on eco-friendly garden rooms and offices, with Gordon Nelson from the Federation of Master Builders helping Gary Finnie of Garden Rooms and Glamping get hands-on with some interesting equipment at the HQ of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in Scotland. Only two more shows to go tomorrow!
It was standing room only at the Green Home Festival again this morning, with a packed audience for our show on taking a fabric first approach to retrofit.

The third afternoon of the Green Home Festival saw a lively debate about hybrid heating, hosted by SNIPEF at the home of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in Edinburgh.

Climate change is the “defining issue of our time” and we all have a role to play to ensure we successfully transition to net zero - that was the message from Minister of Housing Paul McLennan as he opened this week's Green Home Festival.
The Minister also told guests at the home of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in Scotland that increasing understanding and raising awareness about the changes we need to see are key to reducing emissions from Scotland's building stock.
The launch was hosted by Gordon Nelson of the Federation of Master Builders, and other speakers included Sandra Cummings of Faithful+Gould and award-winning designer Anna Campbell-Jones.

It's heat pump day today at the Green Home Festival, with two free shows being hosted at the home of RICS in Scotland as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
First up is our **sold-out** session on preparing for a heat pump, with Home Energy Scotland, James Frew and Renewable Heat.

Insights into water waste were provided by Brian McCarthy of Scottish Water and Fiona Hodgson of SNIPEF, the builder's perspective came from Alan Macauley of James Alan Construction Ltd, while tips on electrical savings were delivered by Robert McGoogan of SELECT.
