The second whisky in the Anthology series, The Unicorn’s Tale is matured in a combination of madeira, a sweet fortified wine from the Madeira Islands off Portugal and bourbon casks. The Original Ten encapsulates the signature smooth and multi-layered character of Bennach. Whisky Sponge, left to right : 13yo Teaninich, water raised a pleasant dram to a level of more engaging company, an 18yo Glentauchers vatting of a bourbon cask with a half an older sherry cask, most agreeable, possibly my favourite was the wonderfully fruity Glen Garioch, a long finish with exotic fruits & pineapples, the 33yo Aberlour was grand with water surprisingly elevated everything- 2nd favourite, a good example of aged blended grain (50yo) and finally a 45yo armagnac : classic notes but not as tannic as perhaps expected. 7 spaces left for this Sunday’s tasting: 3pm, The Kilderkin £30 for 5 drams poured blind.

18yo Single Cask secret Sepyside beginning with M, yes that one!! Bottled by Signatory. 57.9% £19/35ml. This is one cracking dram.
