Thanks to all our customers who have expressed concern over the sale of Summerhall, and what that means for the continuation of Tonegarden, we strongly value your support.

Some of the recent press releases have given the impression Summerhall (the whole site) will be safe for 3 years under any new owner, due to an agreement with the current owner to make this a condition of sale, unfortunatley this is not the case. The 3 year lease will only apply to the newly formed charity Summerhall Arts and the spaces they would be leasing under new ownership- venues, gallery space, pub, etc...... these account for 40% of the overall site, the remaining 60% of the site is occupied by over 120 resident artists and creative businesses, which will not be safeguarded by the 3 year lease guarantee, this means a new buyer could still develop the majority of the site leaving the resident businesses to find new homes, or as very possibilly in Tonegarden's case close all together.

Summerhall's resident creative business community has started it's own campaign- to increase awareness of the many, often unique, resident businesses forming our own creative village which, is a year round contributor to the local economy and provides employment to well over 120 people.

Unfortunately due to rising costs we are increasing our prices, as of August 1st 2024 Rehearsal rates will be as follows-
Monday-Friday 4:30-1130pm
Gold Room £14 p/h
Blue Room £13 p/h
Red Room £12 p/h
Saturday and Sunday 11am-11pm
Gold Room £12 p/h
Blue Room £11 p/h
Red Room £10 p/h
We are also increasing our late cancellation period from 24hrs to 48hrs

As most people will probably now be aware Summerhall is up for sale, the worry is that parties interested in the purchase of Summerhall will not be interested in continuing as an arts venue.

This would be a massive loss to the Edinburgh cultural landscape if allowed to happen, since 2011 Summerhall has grown to become a important part of artistic ecosystem, it's loss would be a big blow to artists and audiences alike.

Help preserve Edinburgh's cultural soul by not letting Summerhall become another property development!

Regretably we have called a close to 'Dicking About' open mic night at The Royal Dick Bar , thanks very much to all the wonderful performers who came along to support and entertain us, and thanks to the Dick Vet for alowing us to host the evening!

Really sad news so sorry to hear this, The Jazz Bar has been a cornerstone of the Edinburgh music community, it has provided top class entertainment and has served as a platform for many exceptionally talented musicians to flourish, it will be sorely missed.
