The Beyond Broadway Experience

NEW FOR 2024: The Beyond Broadway Experience is approaching its tenth year. It has built a reputation for excellence, value and integrity upon a foundation of professional theatre industry practitioners and educators who own and run it. Each year it goes from strength to strength.

We always have (and always will) respect and champion the hundreds of exceptional training schools and their remarkable teachers in Dance, Acting and Singing across the country. It is these schools and teachers who work tirelessly to help their young students to learn new skills and develop from week to week. These are skills that we then push to their limits and beyond during our rehearsals and in our shows. Without these schools nurturing such incredible talent throughout the year with such dedication, we couldn’t do what we do!

But each year these schools and teachers allow their students to join our casts and mix with young people from around the country. They do so safe in the knowledge that we will always celebrate each one, sending their students back to them with priceless memories and new information to work with throughout the following.

It is with this understanding that we cannot, should not and do not want to take on the heavy responsibility of the regular training and development of young people through a curriculum of technique classes on a regular basis.

But we can, we should and we most certainly want to bring the same opportunity for personal-growth, connection to the professional industry, creative inspiration and the same life-changing moments to young people that we o=er during our summer project, but throughout the year to encourage young people to remain focused and to support their growth.

It Is therefore in this same spirit that we extended our reach in 2024 with the launch of The Beyond Broadway Associates.

POST COVID COME-BACK - GREASE IS THE WORD!
Directing for live theatre has always been thrilling. Teaching and guiding up-and-coming new talent has always been a calling. Having been forced to sit on my hands for two years I cannot tell you how incredible it was to finally hear the band tune-up and the Stage Manager call for beginners to the stage.

A huge thank you to Explora Journeys for affording me the freedom to continue working with The Beyond Broadway Experience this summer. Returning to Directing after the Pandemic to bring "Grease - The Musical" to the beautiful Festival Theatre (Capital Theatres, Edinburgh) with a cast of nearly 200 of the most fabulously talented young people around has been a highlight of my directing career. And the kids were phenomenal.
