It’s been a summer of sports from the Euros and Wimbledon to the British Open and now the Paris 2024 Paralympics, it got us thinking about our work with the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.

Commsworld are no strangers in delivering connectivity to large scale events but made history by becoming the first telecoms network provider to deliver connectivity for this new global event.
We not only provided robust, secure and reliable bandwidth of up to 10 gigabits at all the sites but also the Local Area Network (LAN) capabilities for fan zones in Glasgow and around Scotland, which allowed everyone present to access fully reliable and secure on-site WiFi.

One of Commsworld’s founding principles has been to actively invest in the local communities in which it works. For more than a decade Commsworld has been a sponsor of Boroughmuir rugby: the semi-professional Super 6 Bears team, amateur First and Second XV and Boroughmuir Youth Academy.
Now for the first time Commsworld will be sponsoring the Boroughmuir Banshees, the under-14 to 18 girls section, for two seasons.

NEWS: Commsworld Ltd’s UK public sector growth continues as it reports further rise in earnings and turnover for 2023.

Commsworld entered its 30th year of business with a 45% rise in adjusted EBITDA as well as a 28% increase in turnover as it enjoyed a continued upsurge in business during 2023.

NEWS: Commsworld secures connectivity contract with Glasgow City Council worth £35m over five years to provide network services to Glasgow City Council – building on its vision to become one of the world’s most pioneering and innovative smart cities.

The contract – one of the largest in Commsworld's history – follows many years of digital infrastructure success for Commsworld in Scotland’s largest city adding Glasgow’s Local Area Networks, Wi-Fi, firewall and security and remote access to its delivery of a robust, resilient Wide Area Network (WAN) solution and IP telephony.

NEWS: Commsworld appoints HR Director Denise McDonnell to the Board
Commsworld is delighted to announce that the company’s Human Resources Director Denise McDonnell has joined the Board. Denise has more than 20 years’ experience in HR, gained in a career that has included senior roles across organisations in the public, private and the third sector. The result has been to create a robust HR service from which the company has been able to recruit, retain and engage a highly skilled workforce – who in turn are key to securing sizeable new contracts.
Denise said: “Commsworld is now a company with a strong infrastructure of support and delivery functions, and we continue to invest in and develop our people in line with the growth trajectory. I look forward to working with the Board to continue to grow on these excellent foundations that have been laid.”

NEWS: Boroughmuir Rugby and Community Sports Club boost as Commsworld agrees to extend its sponsorship.

For more than a decade it has been a sponsor of Boroughmuir rugby.
Now it has signed on for a further two seasons with the Boroughmuir first team and the Academy for another four seasons, with support starting in August this year. Also for the first time, Commsworld will be sponsoring the Boroughmuir Banshees, the under-14 to 18 girls section, for two seasons.

NEWS: Commsworld trio complete 100-mile cycle ride in aid of Right There, as both company and charity celebrate anniversary milestones.

Chief Operating Officer Bruce Strang, Head of Bid Management and Pre-Sales Carolann Miller, and Solutions Architect Pete Roscamp trained for more than two months for the cycle, which saw them pedal from London to Essex and back within a strict time limit of eight and a half hours on Sunday morning (26th May).
The events mark the first full year since Commsworld chose Right There as its first official charity partner. Commsworld is set to extend the relationship for a further 12 months, which is a special moment for both organisations.

Bruce Strang said: “This year is a historic one for both Commsworld and Right There, and it seemed only appropriate to mark the occasion by putting my pain threshold through its biggest test possible.”

NEWS: Commsworld secures 10-year Dundee City Council contract to transform internet connectivity to 42 schools.

Councillor John Alexander, leader of Dundee City Council, said: “These services will allow digital learning to be upgraded even further in schools and enable greater use of cloud-based services. Last month Commsworld set the standard for connectivity at the hugely successful 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.

Commsworld made history by becoming the first telecoms network provider to deliver connectivity for this new global event, combining indoor and outdoor cycling within a concentrated 11-day period, was the first of this kind on this scale.
