Further Proofreading training course
Are you looking to upgrade your proofreading skills? There are still places available for our Further Proofreading Training with Denise Cowle on the 11th of June. It's offered in a small-group format on Zoom, and includes practical exercises for dealing with some of the tricker aspects of proofreading.

New round of our translation fund now open! Deadline mid-August.
This fund is administered by Publishing Scotland on behalf of Creative Scotland. The purpose of the fund is to support publishers based outside the United Kingdom with the payment of translation fees to translate Scottish writers. Funding will be offered in the form of a grant in pound sterling (GBP) and is for translation costs only.

Further Copy-editing training - 4 June

Tutor: Cathy Tingle
This course picks up where Introduction to Copy-editing left off. The course is suitable for those who have a basic knowledge and/or experience of copy-editing. It assumes that delegates have attended the Intro course or are familiar with the methods and techniques it contains. The Further Copy-editing training is eligible for 2 CIEP upgrade training points.
The course covers:
1) recognition and resolution of common copy-editing errors
2) handling complex texts, including references and illustrations/figures
3) editing to meet legal requirements and to ensure inclusivity
4) improving narrative while being respectful of and sympathetic to the authorβs βvoiceβ
The tutor:
Cathy Tingle is a copyeditor and proofreader. After gaining her PhD in English she worked in-house on publications and other marketing communications for a London-based educational awarding body before becoming freelance. She is an Advanced Professional Member and membership director of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP, www.ciep.uk).
