What an utter privilege and heartwarming experience it was to join the thousands of other campaigners who marched through Edinburgh as part of Scotland's Climate March to demand that the Scottish and UK governments act to prevent climate change ahead of the UN meeting in Paris. We are so proud of Stop Climate Change Chaos Scotland for organising the event - the turnout was absolutely incredible! It's safe to say all our faces are still hurting this morning from all the laughs last night. A big, huge, massive THANK YOU to everyone who came to our event last night and generously donated, to all our wonderful comedians who had us in fits of laughter, to Southside Social for letting us host the gig in their utterly wonderful venue and to Oxfam Scotland's Nick for the brilliant talk. We had such a fun night and we can't wait to do something similar again soon. Photos to come soon (watch this space) but for now have some of our team beaming about the success of last night!

We are very excited to announce a few details about our upcoming fundraising event... we will be hosting a COMEDY NIGHT on 19th November which will showcase some of the hottest upcoming local comedians all in the name of raising money and awareness for Oxfam's big push against climate change. Howdy Oxfamers! Tonight's meeting will be at a slightly later time of 7pm in room 2.13, 50 George Square - come and help us continue planning this semesters event!

Have you heard about the "Buy Books for Syria" scheme that Waterstones have set up in partnership with Oxfam? From Thursday 1st October, Waterstones booksellers will sell a selection of books by bestselling authors such as Philip Pullman, Hilary Mantel, Neil Gaiman, David Walliams, David Nicholls, Victoria Hislop, Ali Smith, Lee Child, Salman Rushdie and Caitlin Moran which have all been donated by their publishers, and the full retail price will be donated to Oxfam! The aim is to raise one million pounds for Oxfam's Syria Crisis Appeal.

Some of us went down to our local Waterstones at Princes St yesterday to check it out, and the selection is incredible! Make sure to get yourself down there to grab a great read and help Syrian refugees in the process.

We absolutely love this Caitlin Moran quotation about the campaign: "Whilst the governments of this world fail to come up with a solution to this problem, I am proud to do as millions of others have, and say: 'We see you, we hear you, we will not let you suffer this alone. We promise – help is coming.'"

Our weekly meeting will be in New Amphion in Teviot tonight at 6:30pm. Come along and help us plan this semester's event which we are very excited about... watch this space!

The euoxfam gang have been hard arts'n'craftin' this week ahead of our bake sale this morning. Keep eyes peeled for one of these tags around central campus and come and redeem your (edible) prize outside the library!
