With over 150 years of expertise, HS is the world's leading manufacturer and innovator of waxed cotton fabrics, with high-level clients in the fashion and automotive industries. 🎬 BTS | We recently carried out a remote shoot for our Chinese manufacturing client with their Chief Scientific Advisor . It's always fun to work with international clients, and to have their input live on set — even when they might be nearly 6000 miles away!

🇵🇰 We spent three weeks on the road in Pakistan travelling through Islamabad, Naran, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza Valley, Gulmit and Passu taking in the most incredible scenery and culture. The people we met along the way are the most kind, humble, hospitable folks who wanted to share their stories and way of life.

We witnessed the tangible effects of climate change firsthand such as air pollution visible from the Margalla Hills above Islamabad city. Glacial melting in the North and flood damage in the surrounding areas. The reality of climate change in Pakistan is undeniable.

Heartbreaking stories emerged as people shared how weather patterns drastically changed over the last two decades. Communities are forced to adapt, altering their homes' infrastructure to withstand the onslaught of climate change. With so many people living in poverty, this is not always possible. The absence of policymakers and adequate representation in government for those in the north, being a developing country, exacerbates the situation. Ironically, Pakistan contributes less than 1 percent of global emissions, yet bears the brunt of the consequences as one of the most affected countries.

We spoke with the academics, teachers, political activists, religious leaders and local people about the impact of climate change and how the world needs to respond before it’s too late.

🎥 'My Friend' is a short film that explores the bond between a young boy and his dog. The Outer Hebrides provide the stunning backdrop for the journey the pair are on. The scenery evokes the mood of the boy as he explores the area with his canine friend.

Scotland’s culture: Born from passion

We caught up with Rachel Lu, aka LVRA, an up-and-coming singer and music producer. Rachel was born in Scotland to Chinese parents, and her music reflects her roots and intellectual curiosity. We captured Rachel in many of her old haunts across the city she grew up in, which continues to inspire her.

Scotland's food: Inspired by the land

In our next shoot we met Pam Brunton and Rob Latimer at their restaurant, Inver, located at the northwest of the Cowal Peninsula on the shores of Loch Fyne, Argyll. Inver recently became one of the first recipients of the Green Michelin Star. Green stars are awarded to restaurants in recognition of their sustainable gastronomy and for playing a role in the conversation of resources and the protection of local biodiversity.

It was genuinely inspiring to speak to Pam and Rob and learn about their inspiration in setting up Inver. We got a real sense of their irrepressible passion for gastronomical invention in an environmentally responsible way and learned how they make the most of the rich food resources available in their local area. Pam treated us all to a delicious lunch, but we'll definitely be going back to eat at the restaurant.

Scottish Adventure: Built by community

Last month, we worked with BBC Storyworks on a campaign for Brand Scotland. The campaign aims to showcase Scotland as a great place both to live and do business. With director Nick Afchain and a top crew, we produced four short films focusing on a range of different people and landscapes, reflective of 21st-century Scotland.

The first film focuses on elite downhill mountain bike racer Mikayla Parton. Mikayla grew up in Fort William, Lochaber. Fort William is one of Scotland's most scenic towns, lying between the iconic mountain Ben Nevis and the banks of Loch Linnhe. Mikayla's film captures not just the adrenaline-inducing aspects of downhill riding but also the importance that the sport plays in the local community, and how special it is to ride in such an incredible landscape.

This April marks our 5th birthday! And given the years we've come through, we reckon this is a milestone that's definitely worth celebrating appropriately. So, we're bringing back our popular NotWork night for a birthday special.

As we near the close of the year, we're pretty thrilled to introduce .air who joins us as our Commercial Operations Manager.

Though she may be small in stature, Katy is omnipotent, with a successful background in marketing and commercial strategy across a range of sectors, including video production.

Katy brings a palpable energy to her work and is frequently invited to speak at institutions including the University of St Andrews and Glasgow School of Art in the UK, and the HTMi Hotel Tourism and Management Institute in Switzerland.

Away from her meticulous spreadsheets, you'll find Katy on the terraces supporting her beloved Partick Thistle, racking up the bar for a new PB deadlift, or cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
