I've had these retro transfers for a very long time. I think .clayart gave them to me when he was clearing out a wardrobe... details are sketchy.

I still don't know what to do with them, and so they will go back in the folder of other random scheise.

I've got a project in mind, and was wondering if anyone I know has one of these collecting dust. I'm keeping my eye out in the charity shops and would rather by used/reuse than buy new.

Nice jugs, but an ugly mug. New larger jugs out of the kiln today. Tenmoku with a white cover glaze thrown with grogged pink stoneware.

I've got some new stoneware mugs out of the kiln today. My tenmoku glaze with a white cover glaze.

Some of my quantum lanterns on the plinth today. They are slip cast porcelain, fired, and then assembled. I was talking to a pal of mine about them and he suggested grouting them. I think that it kinda amplified some of the thoughts behind them. Now I can see them as a repeating road or floor. Time keeps it's own time, never ending.

There is an awful lot of this pap on the shelves of the local supermarket... like disproportionate. Is it just the seasonal ramp-up of plastic summer junk food? Or perhaps it is for the citizens to prepare for the general election?

Split serving dishes with vegan sushi selection from

I particularly like the sweet tofu inari.

Some more lobed bowls and small split serving dishes out of the kiln today. We're open till 4 today and 12-4 tomorrow.

In a totally, 'I am Spartacus' moment I uploaded a video of me trimming these bowls on the page. No, not really... I just didn't switch the account. If you'd like to see me trimming these Tom bowls, just head over to the studio page, and enjoy the dulcet tones of Blood, Sweat, and Tears Spinning Wheel. 👉👈😅

The rains return.

A medium bowl is thrown on the wheel and lobed when soft. It is then finished with my pale blue Andre glaze. Great for a pack of crisps, nuts, or other snack foods. 13cm x 13 cm x 6cm. £28.00 including UK shipping.

Trying to fit it all in.

Lobed bowls, now available in Andre.

Some lobed bowls out of the kiln this morning. 3 different sizes from spice mix in the kitchen to grab bag of Walkers (10cm, 12cm, and 13cm across).

If you make pots and don't have his book, you should rectify the situation immediately. On the downside, all of my over photocopied typed and handwritten handouts from the 90s are pretty much obsolete.

A couple of butter conditioners are out of the kiln today. You fill the bottom with a little water, fill the top with butter, put them together, and they'll keep the butter soft without spoiling.

As with most ceramics, you have to leave some of the pot unglazed to sit on the kiln shelf. I decided to completely glaze the 'business' end to be able to keep it cleaner. That left the top of the butter side with the k**b to leave unglazed.

I don't often do the slab demo for our regular night classes. usually takes the reins. I try to show something new each time, and this time, it was a little tray for something special. Maki rolls or olives and cheese. Into the recycling bucket it goes.

I've started to put some things on my web shop. These hand thrown jugs finished with my Andre glaze. What's cooler than being cool? Ice cold. 🧊

You can come and see them, along with a bunch of new work by and myself Friday and Saturday 12-4.

Fiona and I got a great leaving present from one of our members, some Palestinian dates. It made me really nostalgic for my mother's date slice. I, of course, emailed her and asked her for the recipe. I had a suspicion that I would be from the Company's Coming series of cookbook by Jean Pare. Her books were always around, and she was a real Canadian icon for her work. Looks legit.

Second picture is a portrait of Ms. Pare.

Some small jugs in my André glaze out of the kiln today. The surface is sugary in places that I think compliment the greasy glossy of the tenmoku.

They all hold around 500ml.

18/04/2024

With a little gap in our teaching schedule last week, we were able to process a bit more of our own work and make some new ones too.

Some larger pieces are beginning to emerge from the kiln from with a brighter palette and more intense crawling glazes.

My tealight lanterns and some larger serving bowls are finished with my André blue glaze.

16/04/2024

A couple of refried mugs out of the kiln today. This glaze with copper and zinc is always different if I refire it. I had to refire as I forgot to glaze under the foot ring.

08/04/2024

Some new tealight lanterns out of the kiln today. Thrown grogged pink stoneware from with a new glaze I've called Andre. The wire handle is surgical stainless steel.

I thought of making these for a beach trip, or in the back garden. Bring on summertime.

This new piece is based on a selector you'd find on a CD jukebox. It would turn pages of CD covers. Now you'll be able to 'select what you want, when you want, and of course where you want it.

Back to the basement casting weird stuff in plaster.

27/03/2024

New bowls out of the kiln... So new, I really don't know how I feel about them. They'll be on offer at the studio from Friday.

25/03/2024

What I didn't want to do Saturday, comes around back on Monday. The extruder stepper motor wasn't working and I had to troubleshoot it. Not my fortè at all, but would like to fix, rather than replace. Think I've got it now. It was just a loose connection.
