Just saying hiya for the first time in ages! 👋 I’m still here hectically running this one woman show Tuesday-Friday 8:30-4 (usually more like 2 on Friday 🙏) and having a real nice time serving up tasty cake and coffee while taking in the view of Arthur’s Seat. Oh! While I’m here. Saturday bun shops have taken a back seat while the weather is better and I’m busy most weekends. I think they’ll be back in the autumn (maybe winter?) and I can’t wait to see my Saturday pals then! 🫡✌️xx
Now that room temp butter is no longer rock hard, sponge cakes are back on the counter! Today I have rhubarb/orange/almond 🌸🍊
A date for your diary! The next bun shop will be Saturday 24th Feb. I’ll have extra rhubarb crumble brioche and savoury buns this time so hopefully nobody misses out.

Hello! I’ll be open next Saturday 27th for another bun shop. There will be an appearance of the elusive savoury bun. I’m working on a really tasty recipe and will have it nailed in time for Saturday, will post some pics.
If you’re planning on coming along it would be amazing if you can send me a message/email so I can get a handle on numbers.
Planning to open 10-12 again, it seemed to work pretty well previously.

I had a lot of really positive feedback about reopening for buns on Saturday’s so I present to you ✨Bits Bun Shop✨
I’ll be operating this like a sort of pop-up with dates announced each month in advance, I’ll likely do one or two per month. There’ll be a selection of buns & babka and the coffee machine will be fired up for hot drinks.
I’ll be open for as long as it takes to sell out which hopefully will be a couple of hours but please bear with me until I get that ironed out.
The first two take place in December, first one THIS SATURDAY, and will see the return of some festive favourites; gingerbread and stollen.
I won’t be taking preorders and I expect this to be pretty popular so do get down early to avoid disappointment.

On the counter today I have a pear, hazelnut & coffee cake, pumpkin & peanut butter bundt, pecan & caramel traycake as well as all the usual familiar faces 🌝

Hello! Bit of an announcement to make.
I’ve made the decision to trial a change to my opening hours over the next month and close on Saturdays. I will be open Tuesday - Friday and will also try out staying open until 4pm instead of 3pm. It makes sense to do this now when I have a couple of Saturdays off coming up anyway.
My reason for trying this is to give myself a better work/life balance, which I think everyone understands is important, and will help me to continue with the business long term. A driving factor when starting my own business, nearly 5 years ago, was a desire to free myself from the shackles of having a “job” and this is a big step forward in achieving that.
I know this could be a disappointment for a lot of my Saturday regulars who travel across town and can’t make it during the week. I’m so sorry to those affected by this, I know it sucks. Thanks for all the support my Saturday pals, I will miss you! And thank you so much everyone for keeping this little one woman business thriving for all these years and allowing me to be in this privileged position. This Saturday (8th) will potentially by my last so come see me! Then start coming on Tuesdays next week (11th) # #
