Alfie is the chef at Melville Terrace. When he’s not at work you’ll find him teaching tricks to his new puppy 🐶 chasing after his cat 🐈 or out for a pint 🍺

Favourite Sandwich: Alfie’s gone rogue and chosen the lasagna. Even though the lasagna is definitely not a sandwich, it’s so delicious we’ll let it slide.

Our Caprese baguette is filled with mozzarella, fresh tomato, basil, and homemade pesto! Have you ever heard of a more refreshing baguette ?! 🥖

October Tea of the Month: Persimmon tea

Persimmon leaf tea is a black tea that is naturally caffeine-free. Persimmons have been grown in East Asia for centuries, and in China the fruit is nicknamed the ‘emperor’s tribute’. The tea is much less popular in the west but with such a delicious and distinctive taste, we just had to have it on our menu! With tasting notes of hazelnut, caramel, and persimmon, persimmon tea has a unique flavour and aroma.

Miko is the shift manager at our deli on George Street.

Outside of work Miko loves to listen to music and dance 🪩 We love all of our customers but Miko’s favourite regular is definitely Danny (swipe to see him 🐶)

Favourite sandwich: Harissa chicken baguette. Harissa is paste that originates from Tunisia and is made from chillis and assorted spices. As usual we’ve put our own VH spin on harissa to create a chicken baguette that is smoky and peppery without being too spicy! Next time you’re in give Miko’s favourite a try!

It's the start of the penultimate week of Victor Hugos Summer Sessions at our Leith Shore Deli. But never fear, we have two fantastic acts coming up to send it off in style. Starting with the Ross Baird Trio this Friday from 5pm!

Ross is one of the countries finest jazz guitar voices, stepping out here for an all too rare session as a leader to showcase his fantastic take on swing, gypsy and Dixieland jazz.

There are just three last dates left on our Summer Sessions schedule - so be sure not to miss them!

This Friday we are joined by the long-established Keyline Trio, bringing the finest quality Latin jazz to our Leith Shore deli. Accompanied by our full drinks menu, and of course some food specials too!

August has arrived, and we're only halfway through our Summer Sessions music programme.

Joining us this Friday evening is the MacFarlae Acoustic Duo - two incredible guitarists with a love of grooves and great tunes combine on acoustic guitars and produce a uniquely captivating sound!

Sounds like the perfect accompaniment to a Pastrami & a Pint!

Next up, we welcome the Graeme Wilson Trio featuring Ross Milligan this Friday the 28th of July.

The tenor saxophone of Graeme Wilson is one of the most beautiful sounds in Scottish jazz. This is his first time out with guitar maestro Ross Milligan and their shared love of great melodies and gentle swing is sure to be a wonderful blend.

This Friday sees the return of Colin Steel to Victor Hugo Leith Shore, alongside his trio featuring Kevin MacKenzie!

Back in June, Colin joined us for the Jazz and Blues Festival and was such a hit, it was only right to have him back at the Shore once again.

Described as the Sibelius of Scotland, Colin brings a joyous celebration of Scottish melody and rhythm, liberated and enhanced by the spirit, sophistication and technique of jazz. His recordings and concerts are warm, life-affirming, and thrilling in their effect.

As with all of our Summer Sessions, the event begins at 5pm!

We promised you a full Summer Sessions Programme Line-up for our Leith Shore Deli, and here it is!

The Victor Hugo team are delighted to bring you a variety of musical acts throughout July and August at the Shore. Join us from 5pm on Friday evenings for some of your favourite VH foods and drinks - including our very popular Spritz and Cocktail selection!

After the success of our first year in the Leith Jazz and Blues Festival we've been working hard to bring together a programme of music events for the summer evenings.

The full programme will be released soon, but for now we're delighted to announce the first of our events this coming Friday (14th) featuring The Ugly Bug Ragtime Three!

The wee band with the big, big sound playing stomps, rags and blues from the ‘Golden Age Of Jazz’ will be with us from 5pm.
