I’d like to say a big BIG thank you to everyone that made it down to say farewell on our last few days and those that took the time to send us lovely messages and wish us well. You’ve made it an emotional few days.

The generosity and love we’ve been shown has been overwhelming and just brings home how awesome this community is. From fellow cafes to regulars to every so ofteners.

It’s been an awesome experience helming this institution and we will miss you all.

Last Friday at The Bluebird before we close our doors permanently next week.

We’d love to see as many of you as we can before we head off into the sunset.
Last day we’re open will be Tuesday 11th of October. 💙

Big News from The Bird…..

The Bluebird will be closing its doors for the last time on Tuesday 11th October.

This feels like a break up letter cause we’re gonna miss so many of your lovely faces.

We can’t thank everyone enough who has stood by us, supported us and joined us over these challenging years. You’ve made each day a joy.

We hope in return we gave you a welcome space, good chat and of course some delicious food.

It’s unknown what the future holds but sometimes that’s when the best things happens.

But we’re not done yet so come down, say hi and get fed!

Never let’s us down, old faithful, a warm hug, a good friend - our vegetarian breakfast burrito.

Our menu is available all throughout the day. Breakfast is the most important meal after all!

Our veggie toasted burrito has cheese, scrambled egg, jalapeños, roasted peppers and avocado. Add Cholula and you’re in for a rare treat.

We’ve had a busy Monday morning baking our wee hearts out.
Amy was pretty excited to find that we had some overly ripened bananas so naturally, we make banana bread.
Dark chocolate, peanut butter & pecans vegan banana loaf.
Oh aye.

Our smashed chickpea ‘chuna’ w/ spinach, rainbow slaw, sliced gherkins, crushed tortillas and topped with franks hot sauce. All bundled together on a 12” tortilla wrap

And today it was back to reality as I spent the day cooking and baking for you lovely folks.

It's been a 9 month journey and whilst the timing isn't the best (August 🤦‍♀️) all work and no play makes me grumpy 😁

We will be closed for two weeks whilst I head to Nottingham to represent Scotland in the Women's Hockey Masters World Cup.

If the past two years and this little fella have taught me anything it's that work life balance is super important.

Starting on Monday 21st January we will be open from Monday to Friday 8-3 and closed Saturday & Sunday.

I know many folk will miss their weekend burrito, pancake & scone fix but hopefully we can help you get over those Monday blues instead.

The calm and quiet of January is always a good opportunity for us to play about with ideas for our specials. And to find new ways of filling and folding our quesadillas (thanks social media!)

Here we have our new vegan chickpea tuna w/ gherkins, vegan cheese, avocado, wholegrain mustard and some cowboy caviar. Sounds weird, tastes great!

Due to the new restrictions and guidance that have been introduced we will be reverting back to takeaway only.

Our menu is already designed for eating on the go so this just means you get less witty banter whilst you enjoy it!

This is a difficult time for everybody and we just want to be able to keep our customers and staff safe whilst still being able to remain open.
