This custom made vehicle strong box fits snuggly in the boot and under the parcel shelf. This one made for a Range Rover and client Can be easily removed and slotted back in to allow access to the spare wheel (as shown in pictures).

It's that time of year again, the sky appears to be in a permanent state of darkness during the past few weeks and due to what seems like almost daily flooding i now carry an inflatable boat in the boot of my car!

One of my jobs is to manage a small off grid solar power system all year round on a local farm.

I designed the whole system to be semi portable as during the summer months it sits in one location creating enough power for:
- a 240v plug socket
- a timer operated water pump and
- an 'under soil' heater for the polytunnel seedlings which is operated by an 'in the soil' thermostat.
And judging by the size of the tomatoes this year, the whole system works rather well.

Several weeks ago, it was time to move the livestock out of the cold and into the winter mansion for the winter months. A quick redesign saw the solar panel mounted in its new winter home, the relevant components repositioned and the system put to use powering a remote PIR sensor above the main tractor access. A small but powerful floodlight installed high up in the rafters works a treat.

The sensor does not detect any livestock but only triggers on tractors or people approaching from about 6 meters, lighting the work area for 20 minutes at a time. A definite improvement in safety and efficiency.

What little sunlight that is around at the moment is doing a great job at keeping the battery charged up. There is plenty of power left over for a 240v 3 pin socket for power tools, TV set for the livestock to watch a favourite movie or a wireless 4g CCTV camera should one be required in the future.
