Refit of Remi Cachet Mini Tips.

This hair is now over one year old and still in beautiful wearable condition.

Over the course of wear the tips on Mini Tips soften and require retipping. This means you will lose a little of the length as the old tips are cut off and new tips are trimmed.
I retipped these prior to refitting.

This is also a perfect example of colour fade. This is not a fault with the hair.
This hair originally was a colour 2 which matched the clients natural hair.

Hair Extensions go through a delicate colouring process to ensure each shade consistently matches the colour ring.

Over the twelve month period of wear this hair has been exposed to water, shampoo, UV light and heat.

If you colour your own hair you will know that your hair needs a colour refresh as it fades and loses it depth over time, the same happens with your hair extensions.

This hair can be coloured down using a semi (I recommend Redkin Shades EQ Gloss) to restore the original shade.

Like many small businesses I have been evaluating where I can make some financial savings.

The fees for card transactions significantly mount up annually. Funds I could be reinvesting into the business or increasing my wage.

Like many other small business I have taken the decision to no longer accept card payments with the exception for clients who wish to pay by credit card.

Future payments are to be made via bank transfer, to be received prior to you leaving the salon. I can send my bank details in advance of your appointment to allow you to set me up as a ‘Payee’

Cash is also accepted and there is a cashpoint directly outside the salon.

By making this move am I avoiding paying tax?
The answer is YES.

VAT is payable on all card transaction fees.
Why should this government receive additional tax for paying for items and services that are already heavily taxed simply for tapping a bit of plastic?

Cash payments retain their full face value.

I’m a huge advocate for keeping cash in circulation, with local bank branches closing and face to face interactions becoming less and less, the needs of the elderly and vulnerable in our society are being disregarded. I’m personally making a conscious decision to use cash more.

When internet outages and banking systems go down, you can still use cash!

I appreciate opinions will differ from mine and that is ok. This is the correct decision for my business and is in closer alignment with my personal views.

First time fitting using the Vlight system and so far I’m obsessed.

Back story.

This client is post chemotherapy. She had been to a salon to have her extensions fitted and after paying two thousand pounds she was so disappointed in the end result.

Absolutely no shade to the Extensionist as the application was expertly done, with very neat tiny bonds. However the bonds went very high and were visible and the top section did not blend into rest.

I removed the top row and fitted the top section using the Vlight system. This system allows extensions to be fitted closer to the perimeter edges and the top of the head. Would you believe these extensions actually go to the parting?

It was all this hair needed to complete the look and look natural.

I will post a video in the next post.

This is the first time using this system and I’m monitoring longevity of wear before I offer this service.

This system works like lash extensions and the bonds break down and naturally shed over the course of wear, so the hair is not reusable.

Lighting was not the best by the time I’d finished.

What a fabulous evening everyone had.

Was emotional taking to the stage to a huge round of applause and giving a little speech.

A privilege to present Jo Fox with Hair Recycler of the Year.

The strangest feeling being dressed glamorous with short hair. As much as I had so many compliments on my crop - I really did miss my long locks!

Well done to all the finalists and winners - so much talent in one room. 💕

I could really ‘big myself up’ here and tell you how clever I am at passing this training.

The truth is this industry is greatly unregulated.

This system has gained a cult like following and when applied correctly is a great asset to accompany other extension methods.

I’m seeing this method promoted for ‘post partum shedding’ and for filling the perimeter edges.

Due to the minute bonds it is possible to take the attachments further forward without them being visible HOWEVER the hair at the perimeter edges is a no go zone as it is an entirely different type of hair and more fragile. As is post partum new growth which appears around the perimeter.
No additional weight, no matter how small should be added to this hair. It’s a huge risk of traction alopecia.

Absolutely can be used for taking the bonds further forward but never onto the hairline.
Fantastic for taking higher to the top of the head.

My training in this method was online.

The application training section lasted a grand total of…. 59 seconds.
The removal a further 59 seconds.

Not once was I asked to prove I was a qualified hairdresser or any industry experience.

There is no case study or final assessment.

Thankfully I’m very experienced in hair extension application with years of knowledge and I teach Hair Extension applications. I didn’t need to attend an in person course and completely understood the demo.

Thankfully for my clients I understand the risks, which won’t be the same for everyone offering this method.

So the lesson I’m delivering - don’t be fooled by a certificate… sometimes it’s just bu****it!!

*NEW METHOD*

I have my first client booked in for an exciting new method I’m bringing to my clients.

This service is perfect for building out fringes and finer hair, top of the head and part lines.

The bonds are extremely lightweight, practically invisible and blend seamlessly into the hair allowing them to be placed in areas where extensions would previously been visible.

The bonds naturally breakdown and the hair sheds away over 4-6 weeks.

This method is not suitable for full head applications but will be a perfect compliment to the methods I already offer.

My first client usually has a hybrid method of wefts with bonds to build out her bangs, the perfect candidate for this revolutionary method.

This client returned after 2 years and it’s always lovely to see previous clients, especially as she combined it with a visit from London 💕

The clients hair has a natural wave so we opted for our Indian range of hair to match the natural hair texture.

Just one row of Hollywood Weave in one shade darker than the natural hair to add depth and richness. This filled out the baseline and added length to the sides.

There are now some Thursdays available on my booking system.

I’m currently still only working one day a week behind the chair. These vary between a Thursday and Friday.

Once all training course dates have been confirmed for 2024 I will be opening an additional day some weeks.

Unfortunately I won’t ever be returning to work full time as I’m physically not able to.
(I feel very fortunate to have been able to return to work at all 🖤)

I totally understand how feeling good about your hair boosts your confidence. To see clients leave the salon, a huge smile on their face, their whole demeanour change just makes my day.

This client never wore her hair down it has always been pulled back into a tiny ponytail. She has kindly given me permission to post the before pics.
(She also hasn’t had a chance to refresh her colour)

Due to the fineness of the natural hair I opted to use ten tapes, single sided application. When I assess the hair at refit I can evaluate whether I can fit some more for additional thickness.
(I had fitted 2 test tapes which the client wore prior to proceeding with a fitting)

This messsge though 🥹

This client was the last client I did when I became ill on May 10th 2023.

I could barely breathe. I’d gone to the GP between her removal and fitting whilst she was having her hair coloured.

The GP told me they believed I had a blood clot in my lung and did a blood test.

Not wanting to let this client down, I went back to work and finished her hair at midnight.

It was the last day I ever worked in my salon.

I was told I had cancer the following day.

A year EXACTLY to the day the same client was sat in my chair, never believing I’d be well enough to do her hair again.

Sometimes I pinch myself too ❤️

The sun was shining so I joined the girls for a quick lunch break outside the salon.

There I was minding my own business looking forward to scoffing my sushi.

Until the sriracha mayo exploded in my face.

The worst part was having to walk across the busy salon floor to clean myself up.

I no longer like sushi.
