The Threadanthropist
I make bespoke, environmentally conscious embroidered items, perfect for gifts or to make your own home a bit more colourful.
I particularly like making commissions so if you have an idea you'd like bringing to life drop me a message or email.
MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!
Hello wonderful people.
Over the last few months I have been thinking a lot about what brings me joy. A lot does so I count myself as very lucky. For example, a tasty sunset? Phwoar. A really good tomato? ooo hot damn.
In this time I have tried to be very honest with myself, which sometimes can be quite hard. And in a very honest conversation I realised that BUSINESS is not something that brings me joy. It does not spark a fire in my soul. I do not get a kick out of up-selling.
So, I have made the decision to close The Threadanthropist.
This has taken a lot of deliberation and it has been hard to do. I have worked very hard over the last few years to build what I have now. However I do not leave with a heavy heart. I am very excited for the future and to see how my art progresses and where it will take me.
I will still be at my studio in Krowji, still teaching workshops and doing some markets this year. But mainly I will be experimenting with new works and mediums to make art that comes from me, rather than only making work I think people will buy.
I think that everyone who runs a business, especially when selling work they have made, is a fu***ng hardcore, heavyweight badass and I will never stop being impressed by it. I just need the time to find out what I actually love now.
My website will be out of action from the 3rd of June so before then I am having a whopping 40% OFF SALE! Head over and get yourself some sustainable, handmade goods!! This account will be changed then to my personal account, I will be sharing a lot of new processes and, lets face it, a lot of vegetation. If you want to stick around that would be lush. But if not then thank you for being with me this far!
Thank you so much for all of your support, care and love over the years I have been one very lucky goose.
Stay excellent

WORKSHOP INFO!!
Hello beauties! So-
I want to share a bit about my upcoming visible mending workshop in April. I am very excited to be able to teach you wonderful people and can't wait to see what you create!
These jeans modelled by the lovely Sophia Djerkallis were up-cycled using embroidery to cover some little holes. Embroidery is such a beautiful way to repair clothing, as you not only are fixing the problem but also making the item so much more than it was before.
In my workshop you will start to learn the skills that you will need to sew something like these lil whale sharks or anything else you wanted in the future.
All of this while sipping Margaritas from ! I honestly don't know what more you could want!
Follow the link to bag yourself some tickets!
Stay excellent

Happy Friday my beauties!
Here are a couple of handkerchief commissions from last month. I was particularly happy with my little grasshopper and hope he is enjoying his new home in the US of A, which brings me on to my next announcement....
I am now shipping to America through my website! So if you have been wanting something from me but haven't been able to now you can! Hop on over to my sight (through the link in my bio) and get shopping!
Have an excellent weekend!
It's been a minute since I have shared any of my actual work on here so here's some Camellia sinensis (a tea plant) that I embroidered for my dads wedding last month, taking inspiration from my new part time hustle at Burncoose Nurseries
Very excited to announce that I will be teaching my workshop "visible mending; the art of gentle protest through embroidery" at the poly at the end of April! No previous experience necessary, just a want to ahve a lush evening out and play with some new techniques! All while sipping Margs from
! More details to come soon.......
Mending is something that I didnt realise would become an integral part of what I do at the beginning of my embroidery journey. But naturally my practice has come to it and now it completely fascinates me!
I think the term "mindfullness" is thrown around a lot and heavily commercialised, but for me mending, especially mending with the purpose to re-beautify, is a form of mindful meditation. I feel my breath slow down and my mind focus. And can see the results of the time I spend on it.
So for me I think mending is important on an environmental level but also on a very personal one too. Can recommend.
Helloooo there beauties, I am back!
I have been taking a bit of a break from posting which has been excellent to be honest, I definitely find that where social media is concerned breaks are key. And with everything, have a break, inhale, unclench your bum, exhale, have a kit kat. Anyway.....
I do have some exciting things coming up that I want to shout about though, so time to get back into the swing of things.
Just incase you have forgotten who I am here is a picture of moi, the thready Midlands gal bringing sweet stitching to your lives from my studio in Cornwall. Hi.
Stay excellent out there

Hello beautiful humans
I've been inactive on here for a while now- intentionally. I want a bit of a break over winter. I really need this time to plan for the year ahead and have a assess of what I want.
And what's good for me.
Sometimes I let it get to me that I see loads of exciting projects popping up at the moment, and I know I'm not sharing anything currently.
But I feel like that's sort of the nature of the app- it can be so easy to compare yourself to others, and see their successes as something you are lacking. Which is so counter productive and rubbish for your art to thrive and your brain to be happy.
So, here's some pics of my beautiful Christmas and New year's with my incredible family- ft the lemon that mum grew!
I'll be back on it from march on here, until then kick it hibernation style.
Sending love from my heart to yours ❤️
January is a busy planning time for me and many other businesses. Because of this I end up being inside a lot hunched over a laptop or standing in the spot that gets signal at home, or in my studio. Lots of January involves emails, calls and meetings for developing plans for the year to come.
And while this is exciting, i find it quite draining. Let's be honest the batteries aren't exactly on full whack in these hybernation months anyway.
So something I know that gives me a bit of zing and umph is having a change of scenery and getting blasted by the wind! Taking my brain out and having a doodle. Going for a pootle. Eating noodles. Stroking poodles....
This is my sketch of from today's soul enriching outside time!
I haven't shown my fave here for a while so here- my face, prepping for my workshop on Saturday with .
The workshop is free to you, all you have to do is book a spot through MakeSpace's website (I'll pop a link on my stories later)
I have been very quiet on here recently, for many reasons. One being that over last year I realised how horrible Instagram in particular is for my brain. So this year I'm going to come up with a plan that works for me. Because I like the platform for certain things, like showing you guys what I'm making and where you can find me. I think I just need to use it rather than feel like it's using me.
I feel like this is a fairly common feeling and have noticed fellow crafter's and businesses doing the same. A great way to support folk is signing up to their mailing lists (mine is in my kink in bio cheeky plug ellooooo)
Anyhoo
Hope everyone is being kind and gentle to themselves in these hybernation months

And I'm oooooooot! I'm shutting the "shop doors" for postal orders for another year! (If you are local you can still click and collect or opt for local delivery until the 20th.)
Im sure come new year I'll write an essay long post gushing about the ups and downs of the year, but for now I'm enjoying a peaceful moment having a brew with my plants and appreciating what I have ❤️
So for now I just want to say thank you, for everyone who has bought from me or taken the time out of their day to say a kind word about what I make, and to all of the freakin wonderful humans I have met this year! You've all made it incredible and I end the year with a heart full of love (and a stomach full of cheese) 💖
Sending love from my heart to yours
Keep is sassy

Good morning lovely people!
So yes, tis sadly true I am cancelling my workshop- if you bought a ticket you have been refunded.
I am sorry to not be putting this on as it would e been a lush evening, however I'm trying this new thing of looking after myself and realising when I've given myself too much to do.
What with all your lovely commissions, markets and pop up action I've got plenty on my plate until next year. And I want to do everything in half arsed. I wish to use my full arse in everything.
I will be putting this on next year though so watch out for the gnomes, they are coming for you, very very slowly....
Me and my little beach hut all up and rolling in at the crooklets beach huts
Game of today- guess what Lucy is smuggling under her coat....
Come say hi and find out ❤️
NEW STOCK!
I have just uploaded four beautiful new designs of Eye Pillow to my Shop for you beautiful creatures!
I have been taking these to market but haven't had a minute to pop them on yet so booooom here they are!
These are super lush for Christmas prezzies - to give the gift of relaxation is a beautiful thing, especially as it is a stressful time for many people. My eye pillow is pretty much glued to my face every evening.
As post is unreliable any way at this time of year, strikes or no strikes, I have added a click and collect service and a small range of delivery options. If you order via the post I am not guaranteeing anything because I simply can't! But I am making regular drops and am going to be delivering items myself too to give you the best chance to get that gift!
So I may have mentioned (about a million times) but I've been pretty on the move this year, I think both physically and emotionally. It has been full of upheaval and challenges.
But now, come the end of the year I finally feel like my feet are touching the ground and I am landing. And in a pretty fu***ng epic place too. My new workspace is at Krowji which I am so excited to be part of. This is part of my bio on their website, go have a read!
And this weekend is the weekend of Open Studios! Sadly I will not be there in person as I am currently winging my way to London, but the studio will be open and you can come and see some of my work. I also highly recommend going to see the incredible variety of artists that work at Krowji.
It will be epic so check it out!

I am still flying high off the absolute beauty that was the Jezebag workshop on Sunday! What a day!! It was so rewarding to see the joy in your faces when you managed to complete your first french knot. But also to be part of some beautiful open and honest conversations. What a pleasure and honour.
I have found that embroidery can be a great enabler for people to open up, maybe as it is something to do with your hands so there is no pressure there.
I feel so lucky to be able to be a part of these special moments, and a massive thank you to for creating this with me, and bringing your incredible energy to everyone who came
SO VERY EXCITED to ANNOUNCE my FIRST WORKSHOP AT Krowji !!
Come along, eat cake- I make a mean brownie if I do say so myself- and make a lovely little gnome garden buddy to sit on your desk/under your Christmas tree/ as the cutest candle holder ever!

PIC 1 = Me one year ago doing my very first applied for market (my very first market was with , who are a wonderful wonderful organisation set on helping businesses grow from a seed to a full rainforest)
PIC 2 = my stall this weekend at the same wonderful market just one year on.
Seeing these two next to each other makes me contemplate how I was this time last year compared to now.
Pretty much everything has changed. But one thing that stayed consistent has been my business, and the work I've put into it. And it's nice to see that side by side!
I could not love it more!! I am so fu***ng grateful for having something of my own, my creative outlet, my brain teaser, my biggest frustration and the thing that has got me through an epic rollercoaster of a year. Well , that and the incredible people who are in my life.
It has taken me to fabulous places and introduced me to wonderful people and is such a great adventure.
What a lucky gal I am!
I know there's been much market spam recently so if you're here, and here for it, then thank you my love!
Have a beautiful Sunday saying sweet nothings to yourself ❤️
