Just a few of the amazing Punctuation People Posters the children have designed this week 😁
This week has been shape week. We’ve been learning about lots of different 2D shapes and making shape posters 😀
Current year 5s don’t forget it’s the Brockhill Park open evening on Thursday 😊
How lovely that one of the children in the group made cards for everyone as a surprise and handed them out today. Thank you Ava what a kind and thoughtful thing to do 😃
Messages like this remind me why I went into teaching in the first place and why I love my job ❤️
Hi Kelly, big thank you! You have been truly amazing with Holly. Her journey started with major gaps, which you quickly identified and acted on. You have motivated and encouraged her through the last two years, Holly loved every lesson with you and every time, without fail, looked forward her lessons. Your passion, dedication and talent for teaching is outstanding.
From my perspective, you worked out that Holly had eye sight issues, dyslexia, which has never before been spotted by any professional or me! When I was loosing my hope that things could improve, you have always stepped in and helped. I cannot begin to tell you how important your support has been.
Both Holly and I immensely enjoyed working with you. You are fantastic and we feel very lucky that you were with us for the least two years!
Thank you # #
A beautiful orchid and lovely card from one of my year 6 leavers has pride of place in the teaching room 💜
A beautiful bunch of flowers for my birthday from one of the children certainly brightened my day 🌸 🩷
I love the concentration 🤔💡 the children were trying to solve individual Spatial Reasoning puzzles and playing a fun Maths multiplication game on the laptop at the end of today’s lesson 🧩✖️ Making learning fun 😃
Beautiful flowers and a lovely card from one of my Year 6 leavers. Good Luck on your next chapter Dylan. It’s been a pleasure helping you 🌟 💖 xx
All of the children I teach look forward to the games and puzzles at the end of each lesson. Yesterday, after trying really hard for a few weeks, Beth completed one of the most challenging spatial reasoning puzzles and was delighted with her achievement! Well done Beth 🤩
Some of the Kent Test practice groups working hard over the Easter break. All of the children that attended these sessions left saying they’d enjoyed the sessions (I think the biscuits helped) and they felt more confident and prepared for the Kent Test 😊
Last week we had Leonardo the tortoise helping with English and this week we’ve got Lydia the LEGO lady helping with Kent Test practice. I wonder who next week’s lucky mascot will be 🤔
What do you like most about tutoring?
Here are just a few of the children’s responses to this question…
Kelly is the best tutor ever and makes learning fun.
You learn new things.
Getting better marks at school.
Feeling more confident.
Making new friends.
Preparing for the Kent Test.
Kelly is really kind.
I had a 1:1 tutor but I didn’t like it. The groups are much more fun and Kelly is the best.
I can ask questions and Kelly helps me.
Doing work, especially maths.
Having someone nice to go through things with me.
Playing games.
Everything and everyone!
❤️
Last week we celebrated book week by dressing up as book characters or words!talking about books, looking at books, reading and writing book reviews 📚
It was also games week and everyone enjoyed playing a selection of brain training games, English games and maths games 😃
Happy World Book Day 📕
This is my daughter, 23 years ago, with her favourite book 🐤 🦆 It’s never too soon to introduce children to books 📚
What book do you remember from your childhood? 📖 😊
Hoping that my Year 6 children were offered a place at the secondary school they wanted. Good luck 🤩
This week we’ve been focusing on year 6 SATs and year 5 Kent Test practice and preparation. All of the children who attended sessions this week said they enjoyed them and found them helpful.
Teaching children to love learning 🌟
Such lovely words in this card from one of my year 6 leavers yesterday 🩷
This child was two years behind in English when they started tutoring they are now over a year ahead, full of confidence and enjoying school 🌟 xx
I’m sad to see these three Yr 6 children leave this week but what a wonderful journey we’ve been on together. Good luck turning the page and writing your next chapter. I’m delighted to have been part of your story 🩷
Today one of the children brought the class pet ‘Toast’ to tutoring.
I’m not sure Toast got the hang of the spatial reasoning puzzle but he enjoyed learning about area and perimeter ✏️ 🧩 🦅
We’ve been working in our new teaching space for a few weeks now and the children and I love it!
Thanks to Gary our builder and to Paul at Profile Architects for helping to create my vision by transforming the garage into a fabulous room (plus I’ve got my dining room back which is an added bonus) 😍
Wishing everyone a very happy new year 🥳 xx
