New from Rare Species Theatre Company, creators of cult hit “Frome - The Fecund Coming”, “Not on the Buses” and Mojo Moves.
Join eminent whistorian Virginia Saggers on a silent disco walking tour of Frome. Having been recently released from a secure unit (where she was detained for attempting to sacrifice her colleague at Boyle’s Cross), Virginia has “modernised” her approach to guided tours of the town and is offering an insight into the popular culture of the 1970s, 80s and 90s complete with a carefully curated soundtrack delivered direct to your ears via headphones.
Let her take you by the hand (metaphorically) and lead you down the rabbit hole, uncovering some hidden gems and tickling the beige underbelly of the town. A blend of improvised comedy and stream of consciousness script writing, Rare Species delight and surprise at every turn. Peppered with humorous observations, cultural references, stories and pop this tour reaches the parts other tours cannot reach.
Contains adult themes and some strong language.
Headphones will be provided at the start of the event and volume can be adjusted to each individual but we recommend listening quite loud to enhance the experience.

"That was so much fun, unique, bonkers and clever" - Emma Adams

Call to action!
We are looking for expressions of interest from local performers, musicians, singers, props makers, costume makers, street artists, and other local groups and organisations to be involved in a mid-scale outdoor community performance for next year's Frome Festival - (even the festival don't know yet! - well, they do now).
This is very much in the planning stages - we haven't got any funding - yet! But are keen to work with other groups so are putting it out there to see if anyone else feels the same.
Must have a sense humour and be open to new ideas.
Send us a DM if you like the sound of it!
Some impromptu taxiing for Virginia Saggers today.
Having run a successful dog show .co.uk ‘s event I gave Tom of a lift down to the station and completely serendipitously ran in to who has always been one rank short of a taxi 😉 so I ended up driving International comedian to the Bath where I told him they weren’t my real breasts 🤣 oh the glamour!!
End of an E.R.a
Goodnight Ma’am.
Thanks for the inspiration.

We glowed in the park for Apple Day and Frome Town Council before the awesome drone show. Thanks to all the lovely families who played along and made a wish on the very rare species of golden apple from the Jurassic Age - discovered in Frome by the Yeoman of The Orchard, Bramley & Cox.

Mavis Clunk of the Clink photographed in 1967 the day before she was mauled to death by one of the lions of Longleat. A public enquiry was launched into her attack but concluded that she was at fault as she was carrying two full sized Iberico hams which the lion mistook for the scent of a lioness coming into heat.
Thanks .festival - it’s been a blast 💥
Thanks to for making it happen.

THE UNUSUAL USUAL
Rare Species is the distorted world of eccentric characters from the creative comedy partnership of Ginny Adams and Nelly Fowler.
Born out of twenty years of friendship and finishing each others sentences with song lyrics, they invent odd couples who, with their instantly recognisable characteristics, evoke a former age and engage the audience with something reassuringly familiar and downright hilarious.
Whether it be a couple of 1970s folk singers running a gurning contest, two stuffy historians taking people on a seemingly dull heritage walk, a 1980s fitness guru leading high octane dance aerobic classes or a Johnny Morris style zookeeper tending a British panda. The highly detailed vintage styling alludes to a former age, referencing classic British culture, tv shows and cult cinema.
Some of the characters are parodies of real people (Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles) but all are based on actual observed human beings and their behaviours and truths. Spend an hour people watching and you will see there is no richer source of eccentricity than real life. (Apologies if you’ve ever heard Ginny and Nelly whisper “she’s good” out of the corner of their mouths as you pass).
