These two came round to give their views on the CG1060 chair. Not only ergonomic, it has been created to be sustainable through the exclusive use of renewable materials, it also offers practicality, durability, functionality and versatile utility. The highlight of their feedback for me was that they were both surprised at just how comfortable and supportive they found it. Sounds like the extensive R&D is paying off.
Some great light early yesterday morning prompted getting out to take a few snaps with a couple of my CG1060 chairs.

CG 1060 chair. Sustainable birch ply construction with 3mm thick oak veneered seat and back to provide exceptionally long service life. Assembled with dovetail joints to ensure exceptional strength. A chair designed to last longer than its component materials took to grow. This is the pinnacle of sustainable design goals when using renewable materials.
New ventures just round the corner, so time to take IP seriously. Now a member of ACID (anti copying in design).
Sunday afternoon sun shining on my oak and birch ply hall bench. Roll on summer.
Finding the right balance between practical solutions and visual interest can sometimes be challenging. I am still really happy with this piece from over a decade ago.
The last three of these birch ply window reveals finished today. Have a great weekend folks.
Three more of the birch plywood window reveals installed. In each case the before image follows the finished result. Very happy clients.
First of nine window reveals installed today. 3.5M tall and half way up a staircase. Along with the delivery, that’s me done in today. More to come tomorrow.
Even though the workshop is equipped with over 100 clamps, sometimes what I am asked to make is still bigger than the capacity of my setup. There is always a way, so I raided the ratchet straps from my van that I use to safely secure my deliveries. This window reveal is almost 3.5M in length, headed for the home of architect . This is the trial assembly to check that everything lines up and meets correctly before the glue up this afternoon and being left to dry overnight.
Saturday flashback to a few of my bespoke furniture projects. Every detail is designed and made specifically to meet both your aesthetic and practical tastes. Manufactured from Baltic birch plywood and solid timber throughout. No MDF, no chipboard, no laminate, no looking tatty with time, just gracefully developing a tasteful patina.
Arched window reveals in birch ply under construction. Laminating the relief layer to the back board to clear protruding masonry. Only 8mm landing to the metal window frame so precision is essential.
Staircase completed today. Now disassembled and ready to be loaded into the van and delivered tomorrow.
This job is nearing completion. So much setting out! I literally have to tackle it just one step at a time, which means so much setting and re-setting of tools and machines.
One bird’s mouth lipped birch ply floating shelf ready for finishing.
Glue up for a birds mouth lipped birch ply floating shelf. Let it dry overnight and lip tomorrow morning. I do love machining this stuff with the Felder KF700S.
Saturday has mostly been on a trial assembly of the zero maintenance equipment enclosure that I have been making this last week. Iroko frame, Douglas Fir cladding, stainless steel screws and hinges. No painting, no preservatives, no varnish or oil. Just the right materials for the job. I do love working for clients who like things done properly.
Final site measurements taken and final working drawing completed for this winding cupboard staircase replacement completed. European Oak and Tulip already collected from local suppliers . Back in the workshop tomorrow to carry on machining.
Boot bench. For wellies under and sitting to don footwear. Birch plywood with 3mm thick quarter sawn oak veneer to the seat and oak feet. Danish oil finish for ease of maintenance.
First coat of oil on the new hall bench.
One piece of quatersawn oak machined into 3mm veneers and laminated to 12mm birch ply. Now cut and ready for sanding and jointing before the legs are added to this small hall bench.
Brown oak coat rail with antiqued brass hooks and decayed live edge. The oak achieves this beautiful brown colour as it is attacked by a fungus that breaks it down and causes it to rot. Catching it at just the right time and seasoning it kills the fungus and stops the rot. This material is exceptional in my view, but scarce and rarely without a great many defects. I find myself obliged to utilise every last scrap in any way that I can and feel that in removing all the loose rotten material and retaining the decayed edge allows the piece tell the tale of its narrow escape from returning to the earth too soon.
Saturday afternoon out of the workshop and walking among the trees with the beautiful light of a sunny October day and the best company.
Jig assembly, the satisfying part.
So these are all the parts for the assembly jig of my new bench project machined up now that the initial trials are complete. Next up is the assembly process, only 728 pilot holes to drill and screws to install.
