Your generosity has helped us collect £216 for Gateshead Food Bank.

Thank you so much to everyone who has made a donation in the restaurant, it will go along way in supporting vulnerable people in Gateshead.

If you want to donate next time your in just ask your server to add a £3 Charity Meal on to your bill. Every few months we round up the total donated, add a little extra and then send it to the food bank.

It's new menu time!

Our head chef Sam's has been getting incredible feedback for his daily specials so from now on we will be reducing the menu slightly but creating more specials. This gives us even more opportunity to keep our offering super fresh, seasonal and ever changing.

We have updated our salads and sandwiches on our lunch menu, all perfect for a quick, light bite and our set menu is incredible value as always with 2 courses for £20 and 3 courses for £25.

We can't wait to launch our new menus from tomorrow.

JOB OPPORTUNITY- Part time front of house staff. 16 to 20 hours per week.

We are hiring for a part time position as a front of house team member. The role would be working evenings and weekends, Wednesday to Sunday working in the restaurant. You role would be to serve customers, take orders, make drinks, run food and help maintain the high standards of cleanliness.

Ideally we are looking for someone with experience in a similar role but full training will be provided.

Our next event is one for the beer lovers! A night of beer tasting hosted by Calvin from local shop The Rare Drop.

Clavin has hand picked 5 beers from local breweries and paired them with cheese from Northumberland farms. Join us as he talks us through the beer and cheese ingredients, production processes and pairings.

KIDS EAT FREE is back for the Summer holidays!

All through the six weeks holidays the bairns get one free meal with each paying adult. Available 12pm till 9pm Wednesday to Saturday.

New to the menu this week! An incredible Seafood sharing platter.

It’s absolutely packed with beautiful seafood including oysters, mussels, prawns, cod and crab. All expertly prepared and cooked by our kitchen team. We recommend sharing it between two people but encourage anyone to tackle it alone.

If you are raising funds for your club or charity, we want to show our support by giving you a voucher to use towards fundraising.

Every month we give away 4 x £25 vouchers to local charities and clubs to use as part of their fundraising efforts. The vouchers are donated on a first come, first served basis.

To get a voucher for your club in August please email Hayley at [email protected] with a bit of info about the club/charity you are fundraising for and we’ll email back if you’ve got one.

Please note that we get a lot of emails every month so unfortunately we can’t respond to every one but please check back on our page at the end of every month for an update on when we are donating for the following month.

We just want to say the biggest thank you to all our customers who have joined us over the last few weeks. You’ve kept our new head chef Sam very, very busy! We’ve been packed all week and the new menu feedback has been so positive.

We’ll be making some tweaks to the kitchen over the coming weeks to make service even more efficient and we’ve got a load of new dishes coming onto the menu this week.

It all feels very exciting and we’re all really looking forward to the future of The Bonny Comet.

Not only have our chefs had an overhaul of our dinner menu they have also gave our Set Menu an update. The chicken & chorizo pasta and our new style burgers have been getting amazing reviews!

This weeks wine spotlight has two beautiful Summer wines (we know, we know 🙃).

First we have a Chilean organic orange, Animilia. It’s a refreshing, medium bodied wine with grapefruit and citrus flavours. Perfect for cheese or vegetarian dishes.

Our second wine is a delightful Italian Raboso Frizante. This sparkling wine is the perfect summer red, served chilled it has flavours of Morello cherry and wild berries. Dry, full bodied and beautiful balanced, it’s definitely one to try.

Both are available by the glass or bottle all weekend.

Our new head chef Sam is doing incredible things in the kitchen. The new menu has been getting amazing feedback so far and he's just getting started.
