TKD KIDS - SUMMER FUN SESSION?

If any of our TKD Kids (and your friends/siblings between 4-8 years of age) would like us to put on an extra session (or sessions) before our summer break then please let us know. This would take place on either a Monday or Thursday and would depend on numbers interested and cost just £5 per child for the 30-minute session.
Get in touch to let us know if/when you'd like us to hold the session and we'll see if it will be possible.

Traffic bulletin: Emergency lane closures on A1(M) southbound near Gateshead following discovery of mine workings
Significant delays are expected to continue on the A1(M) in Tyne and Wear during the evening peak traffic period today (22 May) until a full southbound closure can be put in place between junction 68 and junction 65 at around 7pm this evening.
The emergency closure has been put in place for further investigations and remedial work following the discovery of issues with mine workings near the carriageway.
When the emergency full southbound closure is lifted tomorrow (23 May) morning at 6am there will still be a lane 2 closure southbound between junctions 66 (Eighton Lodge) and just past the junction 65 (Birtley) exit slip for the safety of road users.
The junction 65 southbound exit slip will also remain closed. This will mean there will still be no access to the A1231 from the A1 southbound. Significant delays are expected so please consider alternative routes or not travelling unless absolutely necessary.
We will continue to issue updates as it becomes clear how long the closures will be needed for.
Engineers on the A1(M) Birtley to Coal House scheme between junctions 65 and 67 discovered the mine workings overnight on 21 May. Additional investigations today have found a four-metre void close to the carriageway.
National Highways Project Manager Helen Burrow said:
“The void was backfilled and made safe; however, for the continued safety of drivers and the workforce, we’re putting the closures in place while we carry out additional investigations and make permanent repairs.
“Unfortunately, these closures will require diversions and lead to delays; however, they are essential to make sure everybody gets to their destination safely.
“We strongly advise everyone planning to travel in this area this week to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys, avoid the area and find alternative routes if at all possible. They may wish to delay their journeys and avoid travelling during peak times.”

Further updates will be shared on the Birtley to Coal House web page and the X (Twitter) feed. The National Highways customer contact centre is also available at 0300 123 5000 or email [email protected]
