Are you “PUTTING ON THE BEEF?”
Consider tracking your calories. Even doing this without sticking to a calorie deficit will make you aware of what you are putting into your body and give you an idea of your daily caloric intake. This might just give you a wake up call and put the “I’ll start tomorrow” patter actually into action!
Figure out your TDEE in comparison to your daily caloric intake and start to subtract 5-7% and track your progress as you go. 5-7% starting deficit is minimal and shouldn’t cause implications for adherence. Then if you feel the need, up to 10% off and track progress again. This will help if you don’t have a timeframe for weight loss/weight gain, gradual progress may suit a busy lifestyle 🤝
IMPORTANTLY, try not to obsess over counting calories as you move on. “Eyeball” your food amounts when you become confident with your intake and make sure you are in a rhythm by the time you stop weighing.

For those that despise cardio, you could find a hobby that you enjoy!
Due to my work schedule I’ve not been able to play football on the regular Wednesday nights, so now I play basketball on Tuesdays instead. I’m trying to keep at least 1 energy taxing session per week, along with getting those steps in on top of training. My goal isn’t weight loss (as you can props tell from my lanky frame 😂), just keeping my cardiovascular health in check.
It’s not really exciting to be running like a hamster on the treadmill in the gym so try looking at other ways to become more active. Save your gym time for building strength and performing resistance training.
If you want to lose some body fat, you will need to increase energy expenditure as well as sorting out your calorie intake.
(Energy in vs energy out, it’s important!)

If any of you would like to get fit and active in this new year, please don’t hesitate to give us a message. A gym environment can be quite daunting to those with less experience. This service aims to optimise fitness potential in an outdoor setting. The classes will benefit EVERYONE no matter age or size. After all, we are here to help you progress your understanding of health & exercise!! This service is far less cost than the average PT would charge you, so why not give it a chance?

- As the REALLY bad weather comes in, I will look to take these classes to an indoor setting. However, nothing much is restricted by the rain! It helps train the mindset to overcome challenges.
- With a mix or cardio and strength/conditioning, these sessions are great for elevating heart rate which increases cardiac output, intertwined with resistance exercises that help to tone and shape the body.
- Pushing your limits will benefit the mind greatly as you are sure to leave the class with a surge of endorphin release. ⚡️💆♀️💆⚡️
