At the Royal Alexandra Consultant Led Labour Ward (CLU) we have worked hard to provide a calm and relaxed environment for you to birth your baby.
If Continuous Fetal Monitoring is required, we have wireless CTG monitoring available in all of our birthing rooms which provides the opportunity for freedom of movement. This monitoring can also be submerged in water – which allows you to make use of our large corner baths for pain relief during labour.
We are able to provide tools such as birthing balls, bean bags and a CUB chair to facilitate a wide range of positions and promote the use of these.
Recently we have invested in Bluetooth enabled speakers which also provide a beautiful sparkly light projection to add to the atmosphere
Congratulations to all our November families

“I received excellent care from staff during my pregnancy.
Lynne, Fiona and Rachel provided great support and helped to create a lovely experience.
Debbie and Kathryn helped me navigate the first night on the ward with my son.
I was encouraged and felt listened to by the staff, who helped me with breastfeeding.
Everything was explained from start to finish so we knew what was happening.”
Inverclyde Royal Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital staff support our patient with their “excellent” and heartfelt care.

Baby Loss Awareness Week 9th-15th October 2022
"It can be difficult to know what to say to bereaved parents and families. Often, we choose not to say anything at all because we are afraid to say the wrong thing."
SANDS Glasgow are here to support anyone affected by pregnancy and baby loss, including friends and family members of bereaved parents.
www.sands.org.uk/support
It can be difficult to know what to say to bereaved parents and families. Often, we choose not to say anything at all because we are afraid to say the wrong thing.
But it is so important to talk to bereaved parents and families to help them feel less alone.
Here are some things you can say…
🔶 How are you feeling today? Or it’s lovely to see you, how was it getting out of the house?
🔷 Have you named your baby? I’d love to hear their name.
🔶 I’d love to hear about your baby if you’d like to tell me.
🔷 If you have a photo I’d love to see your baby if you’d be happy to share him/her.
🔶 I’m always happy to listen if you need to talk.
🔷 I’m not sure what to say, but I am here for you.
🔶 Tell me what I can do for you, I can cook you a meal and drop it round or walk the dog...
🔷 How are you feeling physically is there anything that I can do to help you?
Please remember that we are here to support anyone affected by pregnancy and baby loss, including friends and family members of bereaved parents ⬇️

During your pregnancy your body needs more iron than usual. It is common for iron levels to become low and for iron deficiency anaemia to develop.
Fortunately, we can easily treat low iron levels and iron deficiency anaemia during pregnancy.
See our information leaflet below or ask your midwife for more information.
The “So Briefly Known” service has been held on the first Sunday of October for a number of years, but it had to be postponed because of the pandemic.
However, with COVID restrictions eased, NHSGGC has decided to resume this important event, which provides bereaved women and their families with an opportunity to remember togetherness and hope for the babies they have lost, and to acknowledge how precious their life meant to them as a family.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
