AFC Barrhill
This is the offical page of Barrhill afc, we are amateur football team from Twechar who play in the stirling & district AFA premier league
As most of you know Barrhill had to ask for a relief of fixtures back in December due to being unable to field a team with lack of available players. The league need to know if we are looking to return from our relief of fixtures by the 15th April in order to hold our place in the league, if they don’t know by this date then Barrhill will need to rejoin the league in the lower divisions or join another league.
The current management team won’t be in a position to take Barrhill on next season. Therefore we are asking if anyone wishes to take the club forward then please get in contact and we can arrange handing over any strips / equipment we currently have for the team as well as a list of players registered this season for you to contact.
Reminder folks about the Halloween Night up the club. Tickets can be bought by contacting the page or from the the Twechar Miners

Disappointed 7-3 defeat today in the first round of the Scottish cup. We fell 2 goals behind in a first half which was largely dominated by ourselves playing some good football and creating plenty of chances. We pulled it back to 2-1 with Brandon McKenna scoring our goal, before conceding a third on the half time whistle. Second half we came out flying creating several good opportunities before Pierce Finnie scored to make the game 3-2. We then conceded a poor fourth goal being caught out on the counter attack as we pressed for the equaliser. Shortly after though Dardo managed to score a third taking the game to 4-3.
After this the last 15/20 mins saw us collapse with a combination of injuries and tiredness leading to a several changes in formation and players, disrupting our momentum. The worst of these being an unfortunate arm break for our keeper, we wish Ryan Fulton all the best and hope he recovers well.
The last couple of games haven’t gone the way we had hoped but for spells in both we have seen massive improvements in our game. Things will start to come along we just have to keep improving our performances and start getting more consistent.
Thanks again to our sponsors for their help Insideout Property Developments and Crème de la Cream Ltd. A special thanks to R M Blinds for kindly purchasing new tracksuits for the team, modelled brilliantly here by yesterday’s man of the match Stephen Mclean and Dino.

Hard game today on the Astro at ravenswood. We started off well, playing a lot better than we have been recently but 2 lapses in concentration seen us fall 2-0 behind in quick succession.
We fought to get a goal back, scored by Jordan Sweeney and were on top until half time. Came out the second half and again started well but didn’t create too much. Condorrat then scored a 3rd and the last 20 mins off the game just went by.
Some positives to take but also some lessons still to be learned and we move on.
Subs: Fulton, Campbell, Bamford, Kalid

Very disappointing today. Beat 7-1, didn’t turn up at all.
3-0 at half time, came out a lot better second half and unlucky not to get back in the game but collapsed after that. Not good enough at the end of the day and we’ll need to be much better.
Darren Tanner with our goal. Need to get bodies back for selection soon so we can kick on.
Huge thanks to the troops for coming to support us again, we appreciate your efforts.
Also a big thanks again to our sponsors Insideout Property Developments R M Blinds Crème de la Cream Ltd

Barrhill 0-2 Chryston. Difficult but close game overall tonight. Fought hard and played well for the majority of the game but just couldn’t get that goal. Great effort from the lads though with everyone getting game time and many playing well out of position. Man of the Match was Pierce Finnie.
Subs: Byrne, Brown, S. Gorman, Paton, Kalid.
This leaves us now with 4 games to go in our summer friendly league.

A tough game today. Not a great first half from ourselves but after a tactical change we grew into it. 1-0 down at half time, before Pierce Finnie made it 1-1. We then went 2-1 down before Brandon McKenna made it 2-2. 3-2 down with Michael Duffy scoring to make it 3-3. Then McPherson scored a peach to make it 4-3 with minutes to go, unfortunately a lack of concentration seen us concede a penalty in injury time.
Subs today were:
Bradley, Campbell, Paton, Kalid, G. Russell, N. Russell and Hopkins.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Last nights game marked the halfway point in summer friendly league which was started to try and encourage folk to get back playing football after the lay off due to the pandemic. Its worked well for us with our squad increasing to the best numbers we’ve had in many years.
As a result we are looking to get the team kitted out with some new gear before the actual league starts in late August.
If anyone would like to help contribute, or sponsor the team then please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Sponsors will be mentioned on social media before and after each game and will have their name / logo advertised on the item of clothing they help contribute towards.
A special thanks must go to Creme De Le Creme and Insideout Property Developments as without their sponsorship for last season it would’ve been difficult for us to start back after the pandemic.

Tough game tonight away to Weirs. We took the lead through Paul Devine before going down 3-1 before half time. A much better second half saw us pull it back to 3-3 with goals from Michael Duffy and Pierce Finnie. However we couldn’t get the winner in the end. A good second half but need to improve from the start.
We now move on to our next game away to Campsie on Saturday.
Thanks again to our sponsors Creme De Le Creme and Insideout Property Developments

Very disappointing defeat tonight. Changed the team around to allow everyone equal game time but unfortunately it didn’t work. Game ended up finishing 6-1. Second half was a lot better, but the performance has to improve for Saturdays game. Brandon McKenna with our goal tonight.
Thanks again to our sponsors, Creme De Le Creme and Inside Out Properties.

Disappointing 3-1 defeat tonight after a good performance against a very strong side at the top of the league. Out done by 2 superb strikes in the last 10 mins. Stephen Mclean with our goal, hard to pick a man of the match after tonight with great performances all over.
Thanks again to our sponsors, Creme De La Creme and Inside Out Properties

Great result today. Played some cracking stuff and scored some brilliant goals. Robert James Ross with 4 goals and man of the match, Jordan Sweeney with 2, Stephen Mclean and David Haddow with 1 each. Special mention to Bean who scored an absolute screamer 😂

Hard fought 2-2 draw tonight with amatuers FC. Played some good stuff at times and unlucky not to get a victory. Great finish from Jordan Sweeney and a great first goal for wee Ben. A goal his auld da David Hopkins would’ve been proud off.
