Walking back from the park this morning with my three year old niece and she suddenly yells โSTOP, WAIT A MINUTE!โ I turn around to watch her carefully pick this yellow โflowerโ. She then proceeded to tell me that it was to go on the table outside so she could show her mum and dad because theyโd like that.
Some people see the w**d and others see the flower!! Be the person that sees the flower in life ๐ป๐
Itโs been a busy weekend setting up my new therapy space but I am beyond excited to be able to offer face-to-face sessions to my clients. Not sure there are enough plants though ๐ค๐๐ชด๐๐๐ฅฐ
A few months ago I read an article on a blog about buying flowers to fill every room in your house and the effect this has on your mental well-being. The point of the article was that we so often say โIโll do that when I feel better or when my house is done up etcโ. Why wait for the โIโll do it whenโ when we could do it now and experience the benefits.
It was one of those articles that hit a cord. I am an โIโll do it whenโ person. I decided to make it a priority and although making this new routine in my life will take some work, I notice just how happy they make me feel when I do.
Soโฆ..I am dedicating Sunday as my fresh flowers day. I may not do it every week (life happens) but Iโm committing to doing this as often as I can because it makes me feel great and why wait for the โwhenโ if you can do it now!
Today I bought 3 bunches of flowers from Aldi at a cost of no more than ยฃ10 and I spread them over several vases in four different spaces. Affordable and beautiful ๐๐ท๐ป๐ฅ๐บ๐น๐ธ

One of my favourite things about working with younger children is being creative and making resources!
Today I created a post box for my counselling room door. I have such a small amount of space to work with children, this way those young people who just want to check in and get a chance to talk something through will have the opportunity to come by for a chat. Already I have received five notes ๐ฅฐ
Beyond excited to use these with my youngsters in my schools. The reviews for these books were so positive I had to see for myself.

Love ordering new books ๐ this one is full of ideas for self care, something I am great at encouraging others to do but need to work on for myself!

Remember to breathe ๐ง๐ปโโ๏ธ
Calming down our breathing is such an effective tool when we are experiencing an emotional and physical reaction. First we must calm the reaction before we can process and problem solve the trigger.
The 4,7,8 breathing techniques is incredibly effective and fast at regulating our breathing and getting us back on track.
The feeling will pass, just breathe through it ๐

I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with experience working with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, OCD, low self-esteem, anger and more.
After going through my own mental health issues many years ago I experienced all that CBT had to offer and was amazed at how well it helped me manage my symptoms and triggers as well as look deeper to explore and challenge my thinking and behaviours.
I chose to get my Diploma in CBT Therapy so that I could share the tools and techniques that helped me with others that struggle with their own mental health. I look forward to sharing some of my knowledge on here with you all.
